Prior to starting his own law firm, Mr. Johnson was a criminal defense and business litigation attorney at a well-respected Tampa Bay area law firm, served nearly six years as an assistant public defender in Florida’s Sixth Judicial Circuit (Pinellas and Pasco counties), worked directly with the office of the president of the Orlando Magic on issues of trademark registration, and served as legislative legal aide to former State Representative Sylvester Turner (now mayor of Houston) for the 77th Legislative Session. While serving the state representative, he worked with legislators to create and pass the Texas Fair Defense Act which required, for the first time, all criminal courts in Texas to adopt formal procedures for providing appointed lawyers to indigent defendants.

I began my legal career with the 13th Judicial Circuit Office of the Public Defender in 2008 as a Certified Legal Intern.  I joined the office as an Associate Attorney in 2009, and was promoted to a Division Chief in 2013.  During my time at the PD's office I was lead counsel in over seventy-five jury trials, including offense ranging from DUI, Sex Offenses, Drug Possesion and Trafficking, Homicide, and juveniles charged as adults. In private practice at Tison Law Group, I was lead counsel for both personal injury and criminal cases for helping members of our community. Fairuze Sofia has lived in South Florida since she was in middle school and graduated from Blanche Ely High School in Pompano Beach, Florida.
