I grew up in tiny Livingston, on the western edge of Alabama’s Black Belt, and has carried forward the small-town values of hard work, respect, and fairness into his law practice.. I graduated from the University of Alabama twice — with an undergraduate degree in business in 1998 and with a law degree in 2002. After receiving his J.D., he joined a Birmingham insurance defense firm, where he stayed for five years until he realized that he wanted to work on behalf of injured people instead of insurance companies.. I enjoyed the experience there in the sense that I learned a lot and it made me a better attorney. I don’t know if I’d be as good at what I do now but for the experience of seeing how the other side evaluates things, and the things that scare them. But you’re representing corporations, and your point of contact is an insurance adjuster who’s not concerned about anything but reports and evaluations that aren’t really concerned about right or wrong.. I crossed over to the plaintiff side of the law, joining a Montgomery law firm that concentrated in that area. I stayed there for three years, then ventured out on his own and joined forces with an old law school friend, in 2013. Together we formed the Serious Injury Law Group.. My practice focuses solely on personal injury cases, and he has achieved some significant outcomes on behalf of his clients. They include a medical malpractice jury verdict of $3.5 million and multiple seven-figure settlements in medical malpractice and trucking cases.. My goal is for each client to get the highest level of legal services and personal attention from my firm.

After leaving my position as an Assistant United States Attorney for the District of Columbia over twenty-seven years ago, I focused my legal practice on defending nursing home providers in malpractice lawsuits here in the D.C. area and across the country. In doing so, I learned in great detail not only how those cases are prosecuted and defended, but also how plaintiff's counsel and providers evaluate them for settlement purposes. My extensive experience in defending nursing home cases proved to be one of my strongest assets once I began representing plaintiffs in those cases, as I now routinely do.. My goal in litigating any case is to evaluate it as quickly as possible in order to determine whether it can be resolved early on in a manner that makes sense for both sides. This approach promotes closure for all parties and reduces the often wasteful and unnecessary fees and costs involved in protracted litigation. If early resolution of a case is not possible, I welcome the opportunity to try it to verdict before a jury or arbitration panel. My most recent nursing home jury trial resulted in a satisfactory settlement for my client just prior to the closing arguments. My most recent nursing home arbitration resulted in an award totally in my client's favor after opposing counsel steadfastly refused to engage in meaningful settlement discussions.. Given my strong belief in the benefits of early dispute resolution, I have completed the arbitration and mediation training programs sponsored by the American Health Lawyer's Association ("AHLA"). I served as an arbitrator in a Florida nursing home dispute this past spring and look forward to doing so again this fall.. Before I went to law school, I worked as house painter, a laborer on gas pipelines and concrete crews, a carpenter, and a roughneck on an oil rig. I believe that that background, together with my educational and professional experience, has helped me to appreciate and relate to clients and jurors from all walks of life.. Picking the right lawyer to represent you in a significant lawsuit may be one of the most important decisions that you will ever have to make. For that reason, you should take the time to get to know your prospective counsel and to make sure that he or she is the best fit for you. In order to assist you in that process, I offer free legal consultations. Please do not hestitate to contact me at your convenience should you wish to discuss your case with me.
Sean Olson is the founding attorney of Olson Personal Injury Lawyers, a personal injury law firm committed to helping injury victims across Colorado, New Mexico, and Wyoming. With more than a decade of experience, Sean has earned a reputation as a fierce advocate in cases involving personal injury, medical malpractice, and nursing home abuse. He and his team have recovered millions for clients, helping them rebuild their lives after devastating injuries.. But Sean Olson is more than just a lawyer, he’s a voice for the injured and a guide through the legal system. His commitment to advocacy began early, inspired by a childhood soccer coach’s mantra: Build others up. That principle has defined his life, from his roots in rural Wisconsin to his Emmy-winning career in photojournalism, and now, to the courtroom where he tells his clients’ stories with clarity and compassion.. A graduate of the University of Denver Sturm College of Law, where he finished in the top 1% of his class, Sean brings unmatched dedication and strategic insight to every case. Whether he's litigating in Colorado, New Mexico, or Wyoming, his mission is always the same: to stand up for people when they’re at their most vulnerable.. Sean is also the author of Results Matter, a practical guide written to help individuals understand what to expect if their personal injury claim becomes a lawsuit. He approaches every case with that same clarity and care, easing fears, simplifying the legal process, and relentlessly pursuing justice.. Outside the courtroom, Sean lives in the Colorado foothills with his wife, two kids, and their many four-legged companions. When he's not fighting for clients, you’ll likely find him fly fishing, mountain biking, or passing along that same life lesson to his children: Build others up.
