Mike is a member of Foster Swift's Business and Corporate Practice Group.  He practices in the law firm's Grand Rapids and Lansing offices and enjoys working with businesses and business owners in the following areas:. Mike grew up in a family of entrepreneurs in an agricultural community. He received his undergraduate degree from Calvin College. Mike received his Juris Doctorate from the Michigan State University College of Law; he graduated summa cum laude and was a Dean King Honors Scholar. Mike attended Michigan State on a full tuition scholarship and was an active member of the MSU Law Review for two years.

I started practice in California in 1983, working in insurance defense litigation and business transactions.  In 1994 we moved to Grand Rapids, Michigan to join my present firm.  I serve as general business and corporate counsel to a wide variety of clients in the West Michigan area.  I am a member of the Grand Rapids Bar Association, the State Bar of Michigan and the State Bar of California (inactive). I am a member of the State Bar Business and Tax Section and Real Property Section, and a past president of the Business and Tax Section of the Grand Rapids Bar Association.. My wife and I thoroughly enjoy living in West Michigan, living on a lake, skiing (water and snow), and enjoying the seasons.   We have four children (all married) and eight grandchildren and pretty much simply enjoy helping people.
