Brian grew up in northeast Mississippi near the birthplace of Elvis. He earned undergraduate degrees in Music Education and Performance from The University of Southern Mississippi and a Master of Music degree in Trombone Performance from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. He briefly taught Rock and Roll History at his alma mater and served as an Adjunct Professor of Trombone at William Carey University, both in Hattiesburg, Mississippi.
