Teunis is a Board Member (Secretary) for Mount Adams Resource Stewards (MARS), a non-profit association that is acquiring forestland to actively manage as a community resource, for the resoration of rural economy, and to provide recreation and conservation opportunities.  Locatedin Glenwood on the southeastern flank of Mt Adams, MARS acquired the first community forest land in Washinton State and is looking to expand its holdings by an addition 2500 acres in the near future.. Teunis has volunteered since 2005 and is a past an now current Board Member for  Radio Tierra (KZAS 95.1 in Hood River), which is a non-profit, low power FM (LPFM) radio station serving the bilingual commuities of the Columbia Gorge region.  Radio Tierrra has become the informational and entertainment source for local new and events in Spanish and English broacast.  Radio Teirra is retransmitted from The Dalles, Oregon on and 95.9 in Stevenson, Washington.  A third translator in Parkdale, Oregon recieved FCC approval for construction in the near future.
