The majority of my practice involves working for or in collaboration with several Colorado law firms that specialize in trial court work, and rely upon me to handle the appeals of their cases or the more complicated legal issues that arise in their trial work.. Although it varies to some extent from year to year, my practice is divided between civil (roughly 65%) and criminal matters, it encompasses a wide array of substantive law in both practice areas, and it is evenly divided between cases in state and federal court. For example, while I have defended personal injury verdicts for plaintiffs on appeal, I also have defended insurance companies against such claims. I have represented individual and corporate plaintiffs suing corporations for consumer fraud, security fraud and breach of contract, and I also have defended corporate defendants and individual officers and directors against claims of fraud, employment discrimination, and breach of contract. Similarly, the criminal cases I have handled range from the representation of indigent criminal defendants charged with the theft and simple assault, to the private representation of “white collar” defendants charged with complicated bank and securities fraud schemes involving tens of millions of dollars.

Before joining Condit Csajaghy, she practiced at Reilly Pozner.  Before that, she was an associate in the Denver office of a prominent global law firm.. Before entering private practice, Marisa served as judicial law clerk to the Hon. Walker D. Miller of the U.S. District Court, District of Colorado – where she gained valuable research and writing experience as well as exposure to diverse areas of civil and criminal law.. Marisa graduated fourth in her class from the University of Colorado School of Law, where she was awarded several scholarships. She holds an undergraduate degree in political science from Vanderbilt University in Nashville.. Between college and law school, Marisa spent two years in Washington, D.C., as press assistant to U.S. Sen. Don Nickles of Oklahoma.

Mrs. Barnes' practice includes guardianship law, commercial law and litigation, probate litigation, general business and corporate matters, condominium and association law, landlord and tenant, and real estate law for client matters in Florida and the Bahamas.. After graduating from Sweet Briar College, Mrs. Barnes studied at the University of Edinburgh College of Law, in Edinburgh, Scotland, United Kingdom, where she earned her law degree in 1990. Mrs. Barnes returned to the United States to attend Stetson University College of Law to receive her Juris Doctor in 1993, and she was admitted to The Florida Bar in 1993. Mrs. Barnes furthered her legal education by earning a Master of Laws in Real Property Development from the University of Miami School of Law in 1995. In June 2008, Mrs. Barnes was admitted to the Rolls of Solicitors of the Supreme Court of England and Wales. In September of 2008, Mrs. Barnes was admitted to the Commonwealth of the Bahamas Bar.
