I was born in Cleveland, Ohio.  I attended Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, graduating in 1984. I went on to law school at Cleveland-Marshall College of Law and received my law degree in 1987. The early part of my legal career was spent representing insurance carriers. After 13 years, I wanted to use my knowledge and experience to represent people who have been injured and families who have needlessly lost a loved one. I have been lead trial counsel in over 3,000 cases and had over 200 of these cases taken to a verdict. I have litigated cases involving civil rights, class action torts, medical malpractice and nursing home negligence and abuse cases. I have prepared in-depth analysis of amendments to statutes and regulations and projected their impact on legal strategies. I have created, trained and led successful litigation teams responsible for extremely complicated legal issues. Robert Horton is a 2008 graduate of the University of Akron School of Law. He began his legal career as a law clerk for the Civil Division of the Summit County Prosecutor’s Office while attending the University. While with the Civil Division, Mr. Horton worked on cases against the county involving complex legal issues, drafted advisory opinions, and assisted in defending the County in liability claims..
