Matt M. Paavola was born and raised in a working class neighborhood in East Baltimore. Coming from a blue collar family, he has a deep-rooted affection for labor rights. He has tried well over 2,000 Workers' Compensation cases and appeals.. Mr. Paavola is a member in good standing of the Maryland Association for Justice (formerly the Maryland Trial Lawyers Association). The thrust of his focus has been workers' compensation legislation that improves the status of the injured worker. He was nominated and elected to the Board of Governors in 2000 and retired in 2005 when he received the MAJ prestigious Defender of Justice Award.. Mr. Paavola was also busy on the Board of Kids' Chance, an organization founded to help provide scholarship money for the children of seriously injured workers, for over a decade. He co-hosted the Lawyer's Show for over 5 years which aired on WJFK Radio every Saturday morning.. Mr. Paavola is very active with charitable groups. He has served at the Helping Up Mission as a coordinator and volunteer with the Legal Aid Ministry of Baltimore for over twenty years. This is a not-for-profit organization that furnishes pro bono assistance to the indigent. He has served as State Membership Director of the Greater Baltimore Christian Legal Society (now known as Maryland Christian Legal Society) for over three decades. That effort has led to the creation of a law student mentoring program connecting students with local members of the Christian Legal Society. In 2022, Mr. Paavola helped to found a free legal aid clinic in South Baltimore known as the Good Samaritan Advocates where locals meet with volunteer Christian attorneys monthly at the City of Refuge facility in Brooklyn.. His volunteer efforts have led Mr. Paavola to work with the Essex/Middle River/White Marsh Chamber of Commerce (now known as the Chesapeake Gateway Chamber of Commerce) and Sta-Put Educational Committee. This committee was instrumental in establishing a resident mediation program to facilitate community stability in impoverished areas of eastern Baltimore County.. Mr. Paavola is active on the Baltimore County Bar Association and the Maryland State Bar Association serving on the Insurance, Negligence and Worker's Compensation subcommittees. Mr. Paavola has twice chaired the Public Awareness Committee for the Baltimore County Bar Association. Ms. Rejaei has lived in the Memphis area for most of her life. She graduated magna cum laude from the University of Memphis with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. She subsequently attended the University of Memphis, Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law. During law school, Ms. Rejaei served as Judicial Law Clerk to the Honorable James F. Russell of the Circuit Court of Shelby County, Tennessee, whereby she was able to get a birds-eye view of the litigation process, research law, and provide memorandums for Judge Russell. She also was able to attend numerous hearings and trials, which allowed her to better understand the legal courtroom process. During law school, Ms. Rejaei was further active in Moot Court, which allowed her to receive training for courtroom appearances as an attorney. She also served as a staff writer for the University of Memphis Law Review, which honed her research and writing skills.. She has been part of the NST team since 2010. Throughout her time with the firm of Nahon, Saharovich & Trotz, she has handled a wide variety of cases, including automobile accidents, wrongful death, social security disability, and workers’ compensation, which is her main area of practice. Ms. Rejaei knows how devastating work injuries can be to an individual and family, and she has developed a passion for helping these workers with permanent injuries. She now chairs NST’s Workers’ Compensation Practice Group.. Ms. Rejaei is admitted to practice law in Tennessee. In 2016, she was elected to the Memphis Bar Associated Young Lawyers Division Board of Directors.  She is also an active member of the Tennessee Trial Lawyers Association. Ms. Rejaei was selected to the 2016 Super Lawyers Mid-South Rising Stars list, which recognizes lawyers who have received professional achievement through a rigorous peer recognition system.
