I am originally from a small town in Illinois, but gravitated to the "big city" for college and law school. I attended North Central College in Naperville, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago, and The John Marshall Law School in Chicago, Illinois. The story goes, that I have wanted to be a lawyer since the 5th grade.. After visiting the valley several times, my husband and I moved to Phoenix, Arizona in 2006. I have three beautiful children that keep me on my toes. When I do have spare time, I enjoy reading, running, and golfing.. Go Cubbies!
I'm Cody Hayes and I operate a law firm dedicated to helping people become unmarried without ruining the rest of their lives. I was a teenager when my mother and stepfather transitioned out of their marriage.. As a family, we were always doing things together: Sailing trips to Catalina Island; Hiking and backpacking through every tiny canyon and stream we could find, and mountain biking and rollerblading together as a family all over the city. My twin brother and I had the time of our lives.. I remember how confusing it was to have been there through all those good times, only to find myself with two parents who no longer wanted to be with each other. It was hard for me to understand why it wasn’t worth it for them to try again.. My parents encouraged me and my brother to ask questions. And they gave us honest answers. In the end, I remember asking each of them independently if they could see any way possible to stay their own ways, each of my parents helped me understand that being apart from one another was what would make them the happiest.. I couldn’t argue with that. I didn’t like it and it wasn’t my preference, but I could respect their decision because I knew it was the truth.. As time went on, I came to realize that the relationship I had with my parents didn’t depend on them being together at all.. And they were right about their happiness. By transitioning out of their dysfunctional marriage and moving forward with their individual lives, they became more relaxed, more joyous, and easier to be around. They both refocused on what was important to themselves and began to accomplish their personal goals again.. In a dysfunctional marriage, nobody wins. Moving forward with their lives made it possible for my parents to be happy, and enabled them to support me and my brother in ways they couldn’t have managed if they had stayed together.. At Hayes Esquire PLLC, it’s our mission to help people become unmarried without ruining the rest of their lives — and to help couples with children transition from husband and wife to partners in parenting. We achieve our goals by seeing to it that clients of the firm gain the legal information, advice, and emotional support they need to ensure that their disputes are resolved without a lot of bitterness and resentment, that their families are left intact, and that the stress and expense often associated with prolonged litigation is alleviated.. Not only is a divorce the end of a marriage, but it can also be the beginning of a fulfilling life for everyone involved. If you’d like to transition from married to unmarried in a way that moves you toward the brightest future possible, please contact us for a complimentary consultation.. Sincerely,. Cody L. Dan Beeks has been an attorney in Arizona for over 20 years. He spent 23 years practicing with prestigious mid-sized and large law firms in Phoenix specializing in commercial litigation. He has extensive experience in nearly all types of complex litigation and appeals, from intellectual property cases to malpractice litigation against brain surgeons, to commercial disputes involving valuation of small and mid-sized businesses. Dan began practicing family law when he and his former partners were frequently retained by other family law attorneys to represent family owned businesses in connection with high net-worth divorces.. Later, because of his extensive experience in handling appeals, he began working with the attorneys at the Bishop Law Office, P.C. on appellate matters. He recently joined the Bishop Law Office, P.C. where he is primarily practicing family law. Although he works on many complex and high-dollar cases, he frequently enjoys helping people in smaller cases, especially if their former spouses are trying to bully or take advantage of his clients. He still practices other areas of civil litigation as well.. Although Dan typically encourages people to be reasonable, and try to resolve family law disputes in a manner that inflicts as little additional damage on the parties’ family relationships as possible, he also knows that sometimes his opponents and their attorneys are not reasonable. In those situations, there is often no choice but to litigate, and litigate hard. When that happens, Dan works tirelessly, and his years of complex litigation experience become a great advantage to his clients.. Dan has been active in the Arizona legal community for many years. For seven years, he served on the Arizona Supreme Court’s committee in charge of the bar examination, including one year as president. He also served as a hearing officer for the Arizona Supreme Court in attorney discipline cases for approximately ten years. He was also selected by the State Bar of Arizona’s Board of Legal Specialization to serve on the committee in charge of certifying attorneys as specialists in personal injury and wrongful death. He has also been recognized by the Volunteer Lawyers Program as one of the top pro bono attorneys in Maricopa County, for his volunteer legal work with poor clients who could not otherwise afford to pay attorneys.. In his free time, Dan loves to train for and compete in endurance sports. He has run several marathons and half-marathons, and is still dreaming of someday qualifying for the Boston Marathon. This year, he is also training for his first Ironman triathlon. He is the president of the cross country boosters group at his children’s high school, and is a volunteer assistant coach in the summertime with the girls’ distance program.

I am one of the few attorneys I know who set out to be a Family Law Attorney when I went to law school. I like assisting people in one of the most traumatic legal problems that they face, and enjoy the challenge of finding a resolution that works for them, and if there is not one, taking the case to trial.. I take a holistic view of my family law cases, and listen carefully to my clients needs and wants, and focus on what is reasonable. I am always willing to listen to my clients before I make any suggestions, and I usually give my clients more than one option depending on how the scenario plays out with the other partner.. The Boy Scout Motto is "Be Prepared.", and that is why I listen to my clients, so I can prepare a case around their needs, and work towards a resolution that meets those needs. Every client and case has its own distinct uniqueness, and each client is a person experiencing the no "Win" scenario of divorce. I recognize this and treat each client as a person, not just another number.. I am an avid movie fan. This helps me be quiet and observe, and soak in all of the details. I am a supporter of the arts, and an active member of the Phoenix Art Museum. I enjoy bicycling and hiking. I do both at my own pace. I also enjoy Yoga to refresh my body, mind and spirit.
