I’m Mark Rubin. I have been a lawyer for almost 40 years. My primary practice areas have always included business and real estate matters, probate and estate and incapacity planning (including trust and estate litigation), and ethics and professional responsibility aka the law of lawyering. (More recently, as part-time General Counsel for Pima Medical Institute - a private, allied health, vocational school - I have learned much about education law.) I have been in Tucson for 59+ years. I graduated from Beloit College and from the U of A College of Law.. Presently, I'm delighted to be practicing with Leigh Bernstein - a terrific elder law lawyer - and Matthew Scarber, our very talented associate attorney.* Leigh and I are very blessed in so many ways! I graduated from the James E Rogers College of Law at the University of Arizona in 2010 and my primary interest in law focuses on serious personal injury, insurance bad faith, and police liability.. When not practicing law, writing or traveling with my wife and kids, I am usually participating in or watching just about any sporting event. I played rugby at the University of Arizona, played for the Old Pueblo Lions' Rugby Club until recently, and still bleed red and blue when it comes to the Arizona Wildcats. Now, my passion for sports, penchant for mentoring, and love of family have combined as a coach for my sons' baseball and soccer teams and member of the local sports community.. As the President and founder of the Engage Foundation, a nonprofit that teaches underprivileged kids how to better engage in life, we help provide new, free, and safe opportunities to participate in activities that are challenging, inspiring and underrated.. I also serve on the Board of Directors for the Empower Coalition, a group of young professionals whose goal is raise money to improve lives in the greater Tucson community by empowering charitable organizations with resources necessary to carrying out their missions.. I am honored to be one of Tucson's 40 under 40 as awarded by the Tucson Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and the Arizona Daily Star recognizing 40 outstanding individuals under 40 years of age that have excelled in their professional careers and have made a meaningful impact in the Tucson community.. I have earned a reputation as the go-to lawyer in Southern Arizona for all things tech-related and has also started speaking to law students and lawyers about mindfulness in the stressful legal environment. I speak at seminars on a regular basis and have a popular column in the Writ, the Pima County Bar Association's (PCBA) monthly magazine, educating lawyers how to maintain balance in the modern fast-paced world.. I've been recently initiated into Nexus Executives (“Nexus”), “a collaborative of entrepreneurs and business leaders from a wide range of industries—from international service firms to global manufacturing corporations.”. I've written several children's books and has been a prolific writer for many legal journals and even co-authored several sections of the Product Liability Chapter in the State Bar of Arizona's Tort Law Handbook 2012.. In 2010, I was the recipient of the Andrew Silverman Law Student Community Service Award at the University of Arizona College of Law for leadership on the Community Service Board, which planned and organized monthly community service activities for law students to participate in.
