Craig Liu, Esq. has dedicated his professional career to advocating for children’s rights. Mr. Liu graduated from the University of California, Irvine with a degree in Criminology and Education ultimately becoming a special education teacher. After witnessing first-hand how an attorney can make a difference for a child during the special education process, he switched careers to pursue law. Mr. Liu attended Whittier Law School where he was a fellow in the Center for Children’s Rights and the recipient of the Dean’s Citation Award. Upon graduating from law school Mr. Liu worked in a special education law firm. Mr. Liu then joined the Children’s Law Center of Los Angeles (CLCLA), a non-profit law firm dedicated to representing children in the Los Angeles County Dependency well as being a case carrying attorney, Mr. Liu was also the education coordinator for CLCLA. Mr. Liu helped to author and edit a manual used for Judges in Orange County regarding special education law and the California Foster Care Education Law Fact Sheets. Mr. Liu has given presentations to national audiences about special education law in the foster care system, presentations to parent groups on how to advocate for their children during IEP’s, trainings to attorneys regarding special education law, and regional center consumers on the IEP process. Mr. Liu is currently an adjunct professor at Whittier Law School teaching Special Education Law. He is also the supervising attorney in Whittier Law School’s Special Education Clinic.
