I prefer to be called “Corey” by my family, friends, co-workers, peers, and clients. I grew up in Central City, Iowa. I’m the oldest of five children. I was the first child to graduate college in either my immediate or extended families.I represent people who are unable to work because of their physical or mental health conditions. All too often the disabled are denied disability benefits by the Social Security Administration. I try to help those who have been denied disability benefits to appeal and obtain the benefits that they deserve.

I started practicing law in 1981 and worked in a variety of areas, including criminal defense, personal injury, and prisoner rights. My practice in those areas helped me to realize the importance of doing work that reflects my values of social justice and compassion. I knew I had found my niche when I won my first Social Security Disability case in the mid-80s. Since then, my disability practice has grown to also include Workers' Compensation and Veterans' Benefits. After graduating law school in 1989, I began my career as a lawyer working for the Social Security Administration in its Office of the General Counsel.
