Paul J. Whiting III grew up in Wixom, Michigan, and was a standout student-athlete at Walled Lake Western High School. Upon graduating in 1995 near the top of his class, he attended Madonna University in Livonia, Michigan, on academic and basketball scholarships. He transferred to the University of Detroit to complete his bachelor’s degree and played basketball for the Titans during their 1999 season, which culminated in the league championship and an at-large bid to the NCAA tournament. With another year of eligibility and several invitations to play basketball overseas, Paul made what he describes as “one of the toughest, but best decisions ever he ever made” by forgoing his basketball career to become a lawyer. In 1999, he passed up his final year of eligibility to enter Wayne State University Law School.Paul earned his Juris Doctor in May 2002, and by July of that year accepted a position at Lipton Law. Paul’s fierce, competitive spirit on the basketball court carried over to his legal career. It’s that same spirit that drew Lipton Law and Paul together. In 2011, Paul formed his own law firm, Whiting Law, where he continues to fight for the rights of injured individuals in Michigan.Recognized as an expert in Michigan No-Fault Law by his peers, Paul frequently lectures on this and many other topics, including business practices for lawyers. His areas of specialty include automobile accidents, trucking accidents, motorcycle accidents, dog bites, premise cases and medical malpractice. Paul also sits as an arbitrator on other attorneys’ cases.Paul is an Executive Board Member of the Michigan Association of Justice (formerly the Michigan Trial Lawyers Association), a Member of the American Association of Justice (formerly the American Trial Lawyers Association) and the Michigan State Delegate to the American Association of Justice. Paul has also been recognized as a “Rising Star” by “Michigan Super Lawyers” for several years.
