Upon leaving the government, she developed a private practice with an emphasis on civil rights, employment law, and criminal defense.. She obtained summary judgment on behalf of a high school student who had notified school administrators of a peer sexual assault, but received an inadequate administrate response. Doe v. Anne graduated from Hope College in Holland, Michigan where she studied history, English, and political science, and then Valparaiso University School of Law. She and her husband have two grown daughters. Anne is active in community events, and was on the executive board of Hospice at Home (now known as Spectrum Health Lakeland Caring Circle) for 16 years.
