Being one of five children with a disabled father and a mother who barely spoke English, he and his family grew up in poverty. He and his siblings peddled papers in Detroit from the age of eight to bring money home to help support the family.. My dad and his family’s experience growing up has greatly influenced my perspective of family, work and money. I have personally and professionally observed the benefits, burdens and complications that wealth, and the lack of it, imposes on families. I earned my degree in accounting from Michigan State University (1992) and my law degree from the University of Detroit (1995).
