In my second year of college I took a Civil Liberties course, studying the constitutional rights that make our country great. The course was taught by a lawyer, and it convinced me that I'd enjoy a career in law. After graduating from George Washington University Law School in 1981, I took a job at the Legal Aid Office in Syracuse, where I was a trial attorney for five years. I handled mostly criminal trials, with some general civil work. We were a busy office, helping thousands of clients and litigating cases regularly. I found it rewarding to be able to help others, and to advocate for causes I believed in. I felt that our good work went far in bettering the lives of those Syracuse residents most in need.. In 1986, my wife and I moved to Kingston, and I have been working at Ryan, Roach & Ryan ever since. I've continued to handle trial work and appeals. Much of my practice is now devoted to wills and probate, corporate matters and real estate. As much as ever, I still enjoy helping my clients navigate through their legal problems. I see myself as a problem solver who happens to be a lawyer. I still enjoy the challenge of working to understand a problem, then working to solve it. For me, patience is the key to understanding. The more I learn about a problem, the more confident I am about confronting it.. I am an active volunteer in our community. I was a member of the Board of Directors of the Ulster County Bar Association for ten years, ultimately serving as President in 1998-99. I continue to act as a volunteer judge for high school mock trial competitions. I coached CYO boys basketball and girls softball for many years for my children's teams. I enjoy bicycling, and regularly participate in cycling fundraisers.

I have been practicing Stockbroker and Personal Injury Law for 32 years. If you've lost money through the unsuitable, unauthorized, or fraudulent trading activities of your stockbroker, we can help you determine if it's possible to get your money back.. In addition, we provide legal representation in FINRA arbitration proceedings to pursue your claim and hopefully collect the money that's rightfully yours. We offer an initial consultation free of charge to help determine whether or not you have a valid claim for recovery.. Because we usually work on a contingency fee basis, we charge no legal fees unless a recovery is made. Clients remain responsible for all costs and disbursements incurred in pursuing a client claim. Please contact us for any additional information you might need.. My approach to representing victimized investors and personal injury victims includes using the resources of nationally-recognized expert witnesses and professionals to analyze and calculate trading losses, medical damages, personal injury related disabilities and monetary damages, as well as the utilization of legal, professional, and industry standards.

After undergraduate school, Tara began working as an estate planning paralegal in Albany. She quickly realized that she enjoyed the connection with families that position provided her and wanted to develop further those skill sets. She graduated from Albany Law School in 2002 with honors in the estate planning concentration and was fortunate to begin her legal career already with six years of meaningful hands-on experience behind her.. “I began working with Ed in 2004, which offered me an introduction to special needs law. However, my passion for this area of the law was solidified when my son was diagnosed with Asperger’s syndrome (an autism spectrum disorder) several years ago.”. I feel very fortunate to have a practice that allows me to be a better mother to and advocate for my son. While no two family’s experiences will be identical, there are shared concerns. Understanding those concerns as a mother makes me a better lawyer.”. You may see her around town taking a local Pilates class with friends or running a 5K with her husband Andy. Tara and her family roam the Adirondacks every chance they get. They hike and ski and are hoping to have two “46ers” before her son and daughter graduate from high school. (For those unfamiliar, those are some pretty hard hikes up our highest mountains!). “About three years ago a friend gave me a book that she authored about the history of the women’s movement in Saratoga, Warren, and Washington counties. Her insignia to me read: ‘Remember, you’re a mother, a daughter, a wife, a sister, and a friend—and at the end of the day what we all really have and can rely on are our family, our friends, and our faith.’. That has stayed with me and in someone else’s words, sums up entirely what's most important to me.”

Areas of Practice: 40% Divorce and Separation, 30% child custody, 20% criminal defense, and 10% appeals. This is in general. I am a litigator. I do almost all areas of litigation. I seem to be the kind of person that people either really like or really don't like as you can see from the reviews. I am not a therapist nor a best friend. I will not tell you what you want to hear to make you happy, nor will I keep you case going by telling you what you want to hear as I bill by the hour. I do my best to be honest about your likely outcome and bring about a resolution in a reasonable time. Sometimes people insist on litigating a losing case. I will do it, my clients are the boss, but it is always a good idea to take the legal advice you are paying for. I take my responsibilities very, very seriously. One of them is to tell you the truth about your situation.
