After graduation, she took a seven-year hiatus to begin a family. In 1983, the untimely death of a childhood friend inspired her to return to college. “What was planned to be a two-year commitment turned into a seven-year adventure. I enrolled in an Introduction to Law course and was hooked. I attended school during the day and worked fulltime nights and weekends. As a single parent, I wanted to set an example for my son that through hard work and perseverance, dreams do come true.”. Maureen graduated Cum laude from Russell Sage College in 1987 and then went on to earn her law degree from Albany Law School of Union University in 1990.
