After our youngest child was born with cerebral palsy, my wife and I started a non-profit charity to provide special needs children the opportunity to take dance, art, photography, and theater classes. The charity called The River Performing and Visual Art Center also provided a six week summer art camp program open for these children and their siblings. Not only did The River provide quality programming, it also provided a respite for parents who could drop off their kids for a few hours knowing that our trained staff and nurses would be there to provide the care required for their kids to enjoy their time at our center. Since its inception over 20 years ago, The River has served over 20,000 kids. Many come free of charge thanks to the generousity of our donors. 3 years ago The River merged with Theater Under The Stars....TUTS. TUTS provides live theater, educational programs, and community outreach throughout Houston and the surrounding community. Last year alone, more than 236,000 people of all abilities experienced the music and wonder of live theater and educational programs provided by TUTS including the special needs and out reach programming developed by The River. I am more than proud to now be on the board of directors for TUTS and am pleased to see how our merger has served to open even more doors for chidren who were often overlooked when it came to participating in the arts. At The River, the main goal is to allow every child who participates the opportunity to be a star!

Today, Mr. Amaro still owns interests and invests in real estate and internet technology companies.. Through this experience, Mr. Amaro has learned how the judicial system perceives insurance and personal injury claims and the common strategies of insurance defense law firms and the insurance companies that pay them. Born and raised in Houston, Turner is a first-generation college graduate, obtaining his bachelor’s degree from the University of Houston Downtown and his law degree from the University of Houston Law Center. While in law school, Turner served in several student leadership positions and as a student attorney in the school’s civil law clinic, where he gained valuable experience helping indigent clients who could not otherwise afford legal representation.. Prior to joining Sorrels Law, Turner worked as a defense attorney in securities arbitration, professional liability, and personal injury, where he represented securities brokerage firms, financial advisors, real estate firms, realtors, trucking companies, and commercial airlines. Turner has also represented textile manufacturers, construction companies, energy companies, and Native American tribes in commercial litigation and arbitration, both as plaintiff and defendant.. After several years of working with insurance carriers and large corporations, Turner decided he was ready for a professional change where he could combine his love of the law with his passion for helping people. He sought a firm that shared those same values and he found it at Sorrels Law.. Turner is passionate about helping his injured clients because he understands what they are going through, not only in their case but in their lives. When he was 22 years old, he suffered a catastrophic injury that left him permanently and completely blind in his right eye and legally blind in his left eye. His unique experience helps Turner connect with his clients because he understands the physical, emotional, and financial toll of trying to recover from a catastrophic injury, and he has a sincere desire to help them restore their lives.. Since joining Sorrels, Turner has secured millions of dollars in recoveries for his clients. For Turner, there is no better day at work than the days he gets to tell his clients they have obtained justice and compensation for the harm done to them through no fault of their own.. Turner works hard to give his clients the results they need and deserve. He understands that just one important fact can determine the outcome of a case, so he works each case with meticulous detail from the start to put his clients in the best position they can be in to win.. In 2024, Turner’s hard work and dedication were recognized by his peers when he was awarded the distinction of being named a Texas Super Lawyers Rising Star—an award bestowed upon less than 5% of attorneys in the State of Texas.
