Walter Clark Martin IV ("Clark") was born and raised in Houston, Texas. Since middle school, Clark had always wanted to be an attorney. Clark began pursuing his goal by attending Texas State University, where he received his B.A. in Public Administration. While at Texas State, Clark was a member of Phi Eta Signa National Honor Society and an Associated Student Government Senator. Clark was also a member of the Sigma Nu Fraternity, Student Foundation, and was the Vice Chair of Federal Communications for the Legislative Relations Agency.. Upon earning his B.A., Clark continued his education at Texas State and received his Master's Degree in Legal Studies, during which time he worked as a Graduate Assistant in the Legal Studies department. Clark subsequently attended the South Texas College of Law in Houston, Texas, where he earned his Doctorate of Jurisprudence (law degree) and became a certified mediator.. While pursuing his studies, Clark gained experience in several industries. During his summer and winter breaks, Clark worked off-shore on pipe-lay vessels and overseas as a weld inspector. When he wasn't working offshore, Clark found himself working for the Honorable William Royal Ferguson (Federal Judge for the Western District of Texas), Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison (United States Senator for the State of Texas), Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott, the Honorable Frank G. Evans, and Dr. Walter A. Wright.. Clark began his legal career serving as general counsel to Austin Social Planner (where he continues to serve as general counsel) and working for a large insurance defense firm in Houston, Texas. While working for an insurance defense firm, Clark realized that he would rather represent "the people" instead of faceless corporations. Realizing this, Clark decided to stop defending large corporations and began representing individuals through The Martin Law Firm.
I am a first generation American and lifelong Houstonian. My parents emigrated from Europe to the United States in the 1960's, and realized the American dream. Today, I fight to keep the American dream alive for my clients whose last resort may be a trial by jury.. 100% of my practice is devoted to helping victims in injury and death cases. I do not represent insurance companies or corporations.. I am Board Certified in Personal Injury Trial Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization ("TBLS"), a certification held by less than 2% of all attorneys in Texas. What does "Board Certified" mean? Click here for the answer provided by the TBLS. Why choose a Board Certified lawyer? The TBLS recommends hiring a Board Certified lawyer for several reasons. For example, the TBLS states Board Certification is a "mark of excellence" and a "distinguishing accomplishment."I am a member of The Texas Association of Civil Trial and Appellate Specialists.I author a blog on accident and injury issues which is updated on a weekly basis: I have obtained significant recoveries for victims in cases involving dangerous and defective products, offshore accidents including Jones Act claims, 18 wheeler and other commercial truck and vehicle accidents, industrial plant accidents and other work injuries, brain injuries, and paralysis. Some of my more recent results include:. I began my law practice with the international law firm of Shook, Hardy & Bacon, one of the largest law firms in the world.
