I began my career as an attorney in 1999 with the U.S. Army Judge Advocate General's Corps, serving until 2005. I then practiced law as a civilian attorney at the U.S. Army Medical Command Headquarters, located at Fort Sam Houston, Texas.  In that position, I primarily worked on health insurance and Medicare-related legal issues. In 2008, I accepted a position at the University of Texas Health Science Center-San Antonio as a Regulatory Analyst for Research Operations, where I gave advice on legal issues pertaining to clinical (medical) research, in particular Medicare and insurance billing matters.  I operated my own law office from 2009-2016. In November 2016, I began working at the Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, Texas, base legal office as a civilian employee. I also joined the Air Force Reserves as a JAG attorney in 2016.. I am licensed to practice law in both Texas and Missouri.  I have a bachelor's degree from North Dakota State University, and I earned my law degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia. I served as an enlisted soldier in the U.S. Army Reserves while in law school, until receiving my commission into the JAG Corps.. I am active in a number of professional organizations including serving as a past  President of the San Antonio Chapter of the Federal Bar Association and a past chair of the Military Law Section of the State Bar of Texas. I am an appointed officer  of my sorority alumnae association.. In my spare time, I enjoy reading and running, having completed several ultra-marathons, marathons, and half-marathons.
