Practice Areas: Divorce & Separation
I practice family law in King and Snohomish Counties, focusing on divorce, parenting/custody, child support, spousal support, and the division of assets, including complex and high net worth estates.  I have done significant work in the preparation and litigation of Qualified Domestic Relations Orders (QDROs), including their enforcement and amendment.  I have done significant work on issues involving business interests, taxes, and retirement accounts, and my colleagues have turned to me to confer about the same.. I've volunteered with the KCBA Local Family Law Legal Clinic since 2014 and have volunteered with KCBA to mentor young attorneys working on domestic violence cases.  I believe it's important as attorneys that we donate our time in an effort to extend community access to legal services.. When I'm not lawyering, I like to do all of the wonderful outdoor activities available to us in Washington, specifically skiing, backpacking, climbing, hiking, and kayaking.  I have a gardening habit that borders on a preoccupation.  Cooking rounds out the list.

Jonathan Moffitt

Firm: Envision Family Law
1201 Pacific Ave. , Tacoma , Washington 98402
Practice Areas: Divorce & Separation
There are two things that are more important than anything to family law attorney Jonathan Moffitt, his faith and his family. Because of these values and his belief that every parent has a right to be intimately involved in the lives and upbringing of their children, Jonathan chooses to practice family law as a primary component of his practice.. As a husband and father of four, Jonathan understands the bond between a parent and child. This is a bond that should not be interfered with lightly and one that should be fought for vigorously.. Additionally, there are two characteristics that Jonathan values and prioritizes as an attorney; communication and preparation. Often, when clients come to Jonathan after having fired a previous attorney, they complain that their former attorney did not communicate with them and was often unprepared. Jonathan is confident that these terms will never be used to describe him as an attorney.  He thrives at stepping into a case at any stage and narrowing down the issues that matter most to a client strategizing the best legal route for you.. When you hire Jonathan, you hire him. Although he regularly utilizes support staff to minimize client costs, Jonathan will be your primary point of contact. If you have an emergency, question, or concern, you will be able to communicate directly with him. We live in a digital age of instant communication; you should be able to expect representation that is responsive and communicative.. Finally, Jonathan is prepared. When you go to court with him, you will have an advocate who knows the facts and issues of the case and is prepared to present your case.  He will astonish you with his sharp, persuasive and well-versed legal arguments in the courtroom.  To find out more, check out the numerous positive reviews made by Jonathan’s clients providing an overall 5-star rating.

As I look back on almost 30 years of practice, I have loved being a lawyer.  I have experience and success in a variety of fields, which has made me more well-rounded compared to those who emphasize only 1 or 2 areas of law.. I have obtained several rewarding and high settlements for clients in employment law, divorces, personal injury, civil rights and police misconduct cases. I obtained the highest jury verdict in Spokane County ($3 million) against a Sheriff's office for misconduct against my clients. I am a well-rounded trial attorney who has litigated a wide range of cases, including taking cases through mediation, arbitration, and if needed, trial and appeals courts. I have done thousands of both bench and jury trials.. In law school, they told us in orientation that a high percentage of lawyers wish they did not go to law school and become a lawyer, so I am in the minority - I would not change a thing.  The law is for me.  I am a "lifer", which means I will practice law until they drag me away.. I decided to become a lawyer after the Major League Baseball peoples did not draft me in the first few rounds when I was 18.  I pitched several "1 hitters" (yes, 1 hitters, not "no hitters") in high school and for American Legion at ages 16-18, however, I lacked a 4th pitch (slider, curve, and knuckle-curve was all I had).  Anyway, I also loved playing basketball and football, but when old age set in (age 24+), I began playing softball and have really enjoyed that over the years, until really old age set in (age 40+), and now I don't play as much.  Trying to pick up golf cuz I see a lot of older people out there swinging the clubs, but the last few years I have focused on Tennis.  I like martial arts, sports on t.v., great movies, great food, and being happy.  I had not traveled around the world much, until I met my wife, Hong, who has taken me to China many times now (wow, it is really cool).  My focus outside of work is my daughter, JoJo and her life!  Anyway, I still spend a lot of time doing work because I am obsessed with deadlines, client problems and being the best lawyer I possibly can.

Jennifer Miller

Firm: Miller Law Group, LLC
2916 NE 55th Street , Seattle , Washington 98105
Practice Areas: Divorce & Separation
At Miller Law, we are committed to making a difference in the areas of family law, especially where allegations of domestic violence or protection orders impact parenting plans, and criminal law.. I have tried over 150 class A and B felony cases. I have mediated and tried countless family law issues. I am in court weekly.  I know the commissioners and judges in King, Snohomish and Pierce County. Having seen how hard divorce is on children first hand I was inspired to be a catalyst for change in this area, making sure the needs of children are focused on.  Without a thoughtful plan in place, children can be emotionally scarred by the divorce process.. As prosecutor of over a decade, I know how the legal system and trials work. I teach trial advocacy part time at University of Washington law school.  I know how to fight in the court room.  There is I love more than trial.  I have a proven track record of results. That being said, my goal is always to avoid conflict and court when possible. But, if necessary, I'm willing and able to have a hard battle in court.. I believe we have a duty to improve our community, making a difference in whatever way we are best able, which is why I became an attorney. Whether your needs are with a family law issue or finding an attorney who will fight hard for your loved one accused of a crime, Miller Law can help.

John Kydd

1001 4th Ave Ste 4400 , Seattle , Washington 98154
Practice Areas: Divorce & Separation
After 36 years of practice, certain lessons are learned.  One is that I simply enjoy this work.  I like mediating with parents that can work together.  It is fun to see them move from feeling overwhelmed to having a sense of control and hope for their futures.  I also enjoy the contested cases as they allow me to find ways to deal with an often difficult opposing spouse.  In both cases many clients return to normal life at the end of the case with a new understanding of themselves.  I cannot take credit for this.  It is their talent to make the best of a difficult situation that makes all the difference.. As an MSW social worker and a lawyer, I am interested in combining advocacy with insight to enhance my client’s capacity to deal with their ex-spouse and their children.. I am thankful for the steady stream of client referrals that have made my practice.  Each one of them has taught me something about how to be a better lawyer.. On a personal level I have three sons who I raised after their mother passed away when they were very young.  Raising children on one's own has taught me much about parenting.  Now that they are in college I have time for gardening, biking and giving back to the community that has given so much to me.
