After graduating from Loyola College in 1978 with a Bachelor's in accounting, Mark spent two years sailing on the original Pride of Baltimore. Once back on dry land he began working for the Internal Revenue Service in December 1980. By the end of his tenure with the IRS he had been promoted to a GS-13 Revenue Agent and spent time on the Quality Review Staff where he reviewed the work of other Revenue Agents..
