Luis A. Perez-Pietri is a distinguished civic leader and highly recognized attorney with a record of demonstrated accomplishments over his professional career. He received his J.D. with honors, from the University of Puerto Rico and an LL.M. in taxation from Georgetown University. For the past 30 years Mr. Perez has maintained a litigation practice focused on domestic relations, juvenile and criminal law including: jury trials resulting in acquittals on serious charges such as rape, malicious wounding and larceny; divorce cases involving properties and assets located in different countries and complex conflict of law issues involving application and interpretations of foreign laws and orders; and Custody cases involving relocation of children to countries such as Colombia, Argentina, Peru and Mexico. He is actively involved with the Fairfax Bar, the Virginia State Bar and the community where he has held numerous leadership positions. He is a member of the Virginia State Bar Counsel for the 19th Judicial Circuit, Treasurer of the Board of Directors of the Virginia State Bar Diversity Conference, Member of the Executive Committe of the Virginia State Bar Conference of Local Bars Association, Member of the Board of Directors for Legal Services Corporation of Virginia and Treasurer of the Board of Directors for the Fairfax Bar Association. He is Past President of The Fairfax Bar Law Foundation, Past President of the Hispanic Bar Association of Virginia, Past Chairman of the Fairfax Bar Juvenile and Domestic Relations Committee, He has also served as a member of The Citizens Advisory Council for the Juvenile Court, The Advisory Committee for the Supreme Court of Virginia on Services to Non- English Speakers, the Fairfax Gang Prevention Council and the Fairfax Partnership for Youth For his outstanding contributions Mr. Perez received the James Keith Public Service award in 2007, the Chief Justice Harry L. Carrico Pro Bono award in 2009, and the Leader in the Law award by the Virginia Lawyer’s Weekly in 2011.
