Sean P. A 1996 graduate of George Mason University with a Bachelor of Arts in government and politics, Mr. Schmergel returned to his alma mater and attended George Mason University School of Law. After obtaining his Juris Doctor in 2000 he was admitted to practice in Virginia and subsequently admitted in Washington, D.C., as well as to the bars of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia and the United States Supreme Court.. Active in his legal community, he is the past president of the Alexandria Bar Association and is the co-chair of Alexandria’s Judicial Screening Committee, and he serves as Secretary of the Arlington Bar Association. He also chairs the Virginia State Bar’s District 4-II Disciplinary Committee. He is a member of the Family Law Sections of the Virginia State Bar and The District of Columbia Bar.
