I learned from an early age what the power of the state can do to a family. I know from personal experience that the justice system is not always just. I never lived in an ivory tower, and I do not want to live in one. I know that innocent people are accused of crimes every day. I apologize to no one for the work I have done for the wrongly accused. When I passed the bar exam, I was immediately offered a job in prosecution. I applied my work ethic and quickly moved through the ranks of the DA’s office. I learned what juries think about real cases, and I learned the skills that are truly needed to bring justice to each case. I worked my way from an intern, to a line deputy, to a county court supervisor in both Douglas and Arapahoe counties. I worked diligently in juvenile prosecution, and I learned the every day politics and pitfalls that every family in that system should know. I prosecuted felonies and saw how perilous it is for a defendant to face a felony without the help of an attorney. I learned how the system will fail you. I spent a long time training DA’s, training the police, and training myself on how to properly administer justice. I have successfully tried countless cases. If you are charged with a DUI or DUID, or other criminal charges,I can help you. I limit my practice to defending people, just like you, charged with Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol and Drugs (marijuana). I defend people charged with drug charges, assaults, domestic violence, vehicular homicides and vehicular assaults, and all other criminal cases.. Over the years I have both defended clients and prosecuted defendants so I understand what the prosecuter in your case is thinking.  I first "work your case", which means I look at every angle and every piece of evidence in your case. I have been successful in trying cases to jury trials and also dealing with prosecutors in getting the very best plea for my client.  This includes dismissals, Reckless Driving, Deferred Judgement and Sentence (DJS), DWAI, and other outcomes.. There are many ways you can "win" with your DUI case.  Sometimes a person has a record of prior "DUI" convictions and if we cannot beat the evidence in your case, then getting very little jail and work release is what that client considers a "win" in his/her case.  Also, there are other ways to win.  You can go to trial and win and get acquitted; or you can get a "Non-Alcohol" result such as a plea to Careless Driving or Reckless Driving.  I have gotten many of these for my clients.  Also, there is a "Deferred Judgment and Sentence" in some jurisdictions which means that after you do the treatment and other requirements, the Court will DISMISS your case.. There is a lot of evidence to look at in a DUI case.  What makes your case different from a "criminal case" is that much of the evidence in your case is science based.  That is why I go to DUI science based trainings and am a member of the College of Drunk Driving Defense and a founding member of the DUI Defense Lawyers Association.  These provide specialized training to be able to defend YOU.. There is an important part of your defense that needs a good criminal lawyer.  I have been also practicing criminal law for years.  I will look at how the law enforcement officer "stopped" your car (4th Amendment violation), if the officer "interviewed you while in custody" (Miranda Rights), and determine if there really was "probable cause" to arrest you.. The invisible factor that I have is I am tenacious and determined to give you the very best DUI defense that I can.  Many times I have driven to court early in the morning just to add my client's case on the Court docket so I can address something in your case that needed immediate attention.  You don't know that because you are home asleep or at work.  It is going the extra mile that I do for my clients because you deserve that extra mile.. If you ask Sean why he does personal injury work, this is the story he tells: "You know, I guess I’ve been picking fights with bullies since I was a kid. I was riding the bus home one day in middle school, and I saw another boy picking on someone about half his size. So, I stood up and told him what I thought of what he was doing. When we got off at our stop, he made it clear to me that we were going to have a fight about it. He was about a head taller than me. I don’t think I won, but I did get him to go away and leave us alone. That was a scary moment for me. But I’ve always been glad I spoke up.". About 20 years later, Sean is picking fights to help people who’ve been hurt due to the irresponsible acts of others. He’s accepted clients who were rejected by multiple other lawyers, brought their cases to trial, and won against long odds. He’s advised his clients to reject unjust settlement offers from some of the world’s largest and most powerful companies and forced those companies to pay far more than they said they would.
