Cameron graduated in 1991 from Colorado College where he received a B.A. degree, majoring in English with an emphasis in vocal music performance. Cameron attended the Aspen Opera Theater Center before deciding upon a career in law. At the University of Colorado School of Law, Cameron authored "Transboundary Air Pollution: Can NAFTA and NAAEC Succeed Where International Law has Failed?" in the Colorado Journal of International Environmental Law and Politics and served as Production Editor for that publication. He graduated in 1995 with his J.D. and then joined the firm of Grant, Bernard, Lyons and Gaddis, P.C., as an associate.. Cameron and Wally Grant formed Grant & Grant (later Grant, Grant & Goiran) in 1997. That firm merged to form Donelson, Ciancio & Grant, P.C. in 2012..
