Daniel Key Bio
PRIMARY AREAS of PRACTICE:. Biography: Prior to attending law school, Mr. Key was employed as a criminal investigator by the Illinois State Police. He was later assigned to the United States Attorneys office as the supervisor of an organized crime task force unit responsible for the investigation and prosecution of high level criminal organizations throughout the United States. In 2000, he retired as a major in the United States Army Reserve having served as an armored cavalry officer at the company and battalion staff levels. At the time Mr. Key left law enforcement, he was the most highly decorated investigator in his region. After law School, he worked at White & Johnson, PLC in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, primarily litigating medical malpractice and personal injury cases. Besides practing law at The Key Law Firm, LLC, he also serves as municipal court judge for the City of Prairie du Chien Honors and Awards: Dean’s List Hamline University School of Law; Marquette University Club Football; Latin Honor Society; Delta Phi Alpha National Collegiate German Honor Society; Illinois State Police Academy Honors Graduate; Wisconsin Police Academy Top Graduate/Class President; Metropolitan Enforcement Group Directors Award (3); Honorable Discharge, United States Army; Army Achievement Medal with two Oak Leaf Clusters; Army Commendation Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster; State of Illinois Governor’s Award of Merit; Commandant’s List - Adjutant Generals Corps; U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration Certificate of Achievement (3); U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms Certificate of Achievement; U.S. Internal Revenue Service Certificate of Achievement; U.S. Attorney General’s Certificate of Commendation (2); Illinois State Police Unit Citation; Illinois State Police Director’s Award..
