Alan M. Insul is an AV rated attorney limiting practice to corporate, business and real estate. Mr. Insul Graduated UCLA in 1973 with a Bachelor of Science degree in psychology, and he received his J.D. degree in 1978 from Southwestern University School of Law. Mr. Insul was admitted in 1978 to both the California and Federal Court (Central District). While in law school Mr. Insul was the first runner-up in the intramural Moot Court Competition and a member of the Moot Court Honors Program (Roger Traynor Competition). In addition, he served as an intern summer clerk to the Honorable Lynn Compton, Presiding Justice, District Two, Division Two of California Court of Appeals. In practice for 30 years, Mr. Insul is a member of the California Bar and the Los Angeles County Bar Association and longtime member of the Real Estate and Business law sections of both organizations. He has authored many articles on business and real estate law including multiple chapters of the recently published Selecting and Forming Business Entities (Second Edition), published by CEB. Mr. Insul also Vice-Chairmen of the Editorial Board and Managing Editor of the Business Law News (a quarterly publication of the California State Bar’s Business Law Section).. Professionally Mr. Insul limits his practice to the areas of corporate, real estate, and business law for transactional matters as well as litigation. In real estate, he has extensive experience ranging from lending and acquisition transactions to real estate litigation. In business and corporate law, Mr. Insul has advised start-ups, emerging enterprises, established companies as well as troubled businesses seeking to avoid bankruptcy. Mr. Insul litigation experience extends to appellate matters including published opinions. Foothill Village Homeowners Assn. V. Bishop (1999) 68 Cal. App. 4th 1364; Countrywide Home Loans, Inc. V Tutungi (1998) 66 Cal. App. 4th 727; Martin v. World Savings & Loan Assn. (2001) 92 Cal. App. 4th 803. These cases are cited in both California and nationally recognized treatises on the law (e.g. Miller and Star, Witkin and Corbin on Contracts). The Foothill Village Homeowners Assn case was selected by the Real Property section of the California State Bar as one of the ten most significant real property cases for 1999. In the late 1980's Mr. Insul became CEO to a California based telecommunications company with multiple offices. He has also acted as CEO to an international data network company in the mid-90's.. Mr. Insul’s civic, community and authorship activities over the last 30 years are varied and extensive: Member of the California State Bar and its Real Property and Business law sections; Member of the Los Angeles County Bar Assn and its Real Property and Business law sections; Vice-Chairmen of the Editorial Board and Managing Editor Business Law News (official publication of the California State Bar’s Business Law Section); Author Ch 3 (Selecting a Business Name) and Ch. 7 (Limited Liability Partnerships) in the recently published book Selecting and Forming Business Entities (2nd Ed.) published by the Continuing Education of the Bar; Executive Committee/Board of Directors - Valley Industry Commerce Association, VICA; Monthly column writer for Valley Business Journal; Board of Directors - L.A. Community Re-Use, Inc.; Chairman Insurance Sub-committee - California State Senate Small Business Advisory Committee; Co-Chairman Task Force - California State Senate’s Select Committee on the Northridge earthquake; Past President/Board of Directors - Encino Chamber of Commerce; Secretary/Board of Directors - Cal-Tel; Secretary L.A. Chapter - Real Estate Syndications and Securities Institute; Member - San Fernando Valley Transportation Task Force; Board of Directors - United Chamber of Commerce; Board of Directors - Jay Nolan Center.
