Shelley has performed a wide variety of other community work, including volunteerwork for the homeless and low-income people in Denver.  Originally from the Denver area, Shelley received her Bachelors of Arts in Political Science from the University of Colorado at Boulder and her Juris Doctor and Masters of Arts in International Affairs from American University in Washington D.C.
