Attorney Sandra Hernandez grew up in East Los Angeles as part of an immigrant family. Experiencing firsthand the fears, challenges, and hopes of a mixed-status family, Sandra naturally developed a passion for advocating for and representing families in the complex and ever-changing immigration legal system.. She completed her undergraduate studies at the University of California, Santa Barbara, and earned her Juris Doctor degree from Loyola Law School. As a law student, she was part of the first cohort of Loyola's Immigrant Justice Clinic, the only community-based immigration clinic within a law school in the country. There, she helped secure the Clinic's first approved case.. Upon graduation, she was hired by Loyola's Immigrant Justice Clinic to represent low-income clients in East Los Angeles. During her nine years at the Clinic, Sandra directly represented over 1,000 clients in immigration cases, both removal defense and affirmative action. She developed a specialization in humanitarian and family-based immigration. With her experience, she supervised attorneys, law students, interns, and staff to provide direct legal services to communities in need.. Additionally, she managed the legal practices for the Dolores Mission Parish and Homeboy Industries, providing legal support to staff. She taught specialized immigration classes to clinical law students. She also led advocacy projects such as community "Know Your Rights" presentations and binational legal work for migrants in transit in Mexico seeking admission to the U.S.. In collaboration with community organizations such as NALEO, LACC, and the Mexican Consulate, she participated in a series of naturalization workshops, helping hundreds of migrants obtain U.S. citizenship. Her legal expertise has been sought by television networks such as Univision, NBC, and ABC, where she has offered her analysis on current immigration policies and issues. She currently serves on the Board of the Pathway to Law School program at East Los Angeles College, supporting first-generation college students in achieving their career goals in the legal field.. Sandra's legal practice is distinguished by her strong Christian convictions. Her work is carried out with honesty, dedication, and diligence. Her commitment is to honor Jesus with the gifts and abilities He has given her to be a voice and guide for those in need, giving glory to God for every case she wins.
