I have been a trial attorney for 17 years, practicing both criminal defense and civil litigation.  I regularly try cases in state and federal court in both Oregon and Washington.. One of my strengths and my favorite part of practicing law is relationship building.  I take great pride in the “customer service” component of my job.  My client advocacy goes beyond court appearances and negotiations.  It is the personal connections I make with my clients that distinguishes me from other lawyers.. I am personally involved in every stage of a case, from strategy and investigation, to motion practice to alternative resolutions like mediation and, ultimately, jury trial if an alternative resolution is not possible.. I began my career as a Multnomah County Public Defender, where I represented thousands of clients charged with every type of criminal case, and gained extensive trial experience.. Prior entering private practice, I was an attorney with a large insurance defense firm where I handled complex multi-party civil cases in the areas of personal injury, construction defect and real estate disputes and gained valuable insight about how large insurance companies and their law firms handle cases.. In my former life, I was a stand-up comic, winning the Portland Comedy Competition in 2000.. When not practicing law, I enjoy spending time with my husband Nathan and daughter Georgia and volunteering with a variety of non-profit organizations in Portland.
