About Nicholas J. Plante
For the last 13 years I have represented individuals in all aspects of family law. Additionally, I am regularly appointed by the Justices of the Probate and Family Court to serve in the capacities of Guardian Ad Litem, Trustee, Attorney for Child (ARC Counsel), Special Master, Discovery Master , Arbitrator (for binding arbitration) and Conciliator.. The course of my representation includes Pre-nuptial agreements, contested and un-contested divorce actions, contempt actions, modification actions as well as mediations. Within the course of those actions, I have handled numerous contensted custody, child support, adoption and other family law related matters. I have tried numerous cases and briefed and argued numerous cases before the appellate courts of Massachusetts.. Additionally, my practice includes representation of persons before the appellate courts of Massachusetts, having represented parties before the Supreme Judicial Court of Massachusetts and the Massachusetts Appeals Court.. Finally, I represented students and families in education law related matters, including, disciplinary hearings, IEP and 504 meetings, and other matters involving education law.. I have participate regularly in continuing legal education seminars, and have additionally taught such seminars, including, "Introduction to Divorce" and "Year in Review" (annual review of appellate case law related to family law) and "Trial skills". I have previously served as a Judge for the Massachusetts Bar Association Mock Trial Competition and have served previously as the Mock Trial Coach for South High in Worcester, Ma.. I am a proud graduate of the Worcester Public Schools, Worcester State University and Western New England University School of Law, where I was twice awarded the "Best Oralist" award. I was selected to participate in the national environmental moot court competition, where I was a semi-finalist.. I am a member of the Massachusetts Bar Association and the Worcester County Bar Association, where I sit on the Probate and Family Law Committee and the Trial Skills Committee.
