Jon is originally from the Fort Worth area. He graduated from Texas Tech University’s Rawls College of Business and then attended the Texas Tech School of Law.  In law school Jon participated in several practice court activities, reaching the final rounds and winning awards in several. He also served as an editor on two journals, the Texas Tech Law Review and the Estate Planning & Community Property Journal. In his third year of law school, Jon had the opportunity to argue a real case before one of the United States Circuit Courts, the level of court just before the U.S. Supreme Court.. Initially, Jon worked as a law clerk with the firm and then went on to work as an attorney in the firm’s litigation department for three years. After a two and half year absence in which he had his own law firm and relocated to Austin, he rejoined the firm to work with Kevin Glasheen in our Austin office. In September 2018, Jon attended the Gerry Spence Trial Lawyer's College in Dubois, Wyoming.. Jon has focused his entire career on representing people, and their families, who have suffered catastrophic injuries or death. He prides himself on his ability to understand and explain to juries the true harms caused by injuries and the ways in which an injury can drastically alter someone’s life.. Over the years, Jon has represented people in serious workplace injuries, commercial trucking cases, significant motor vehicle and motorcycle crashes, pipeline explosions, premises liability claims, pedestrian accidents, and various other situations. His aggressive style has led to successful outcomes through settlement and trial for hundreds of clients.. Super Lawyers selected Jon as a Texas Rising Star since 2016, a Top 100 Rising Star in 2021, and the National Trial Lawyers has chosen him as a Top 40 Under 40 since 2016 as well. In 2016 he was named to the Nation’s Top One Percent by the National Association of Distinguished Counsel, which includes less than 1% of practicing attorneys in the United States.  In 2022, Jon was selected for Texas Super Lawyers in his first year of eligibility and he has been selected every year since. In 2023, he was also selected to the Top 100 Personal Injury attorneys by the National Trial Lawyers. In addition to his legal practice, Jon is active with the Texas Trial Lawyers Association (TTLA), an organization dedicated to protecting the rights of the people to seek justice in the Texas court system. He serves on the Board of Directors for TTLA and was the 2018-2019 Chair for TTLA's Advocates Committee, during which he founded the TTLA LEAD Academy.. In April of 2023, Jon and his co-counsels obtained an $860 million dollar verdict in the case Williams et al. v. Greystar Development & Construction, LP, et al. in Dallas County.. Jon is licensed to practice in all state courts in Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, and Colorado. He is also admitted to practice in the United States District Courts for the Northern District and Western District of Texas and the United States District Courts for the District of New Mexico.
