Mr. Smith is owner and lead attorney at the Law Firm of Jason R. Smith. He grew up in Canada playing ice-hockey which as a teenager included competition overseas in Russia, Sweden and Finland. Mr. Smith graduated from the University of Victoria in 1997 with a Bachelor of Arts in History and Psychology, spent an interim summer in Hawaii, and received his Juris Doctorate from Michigan State University College of Law in 2001. During law school, Mr. Smith interned for the Chief Judge of the Ingham County Circuit Court.. Jason began his professional legal career in Arizona, working in the trenches as a public defender. He defended eleven trials his first year, obtaining not guilty verdicts on all counts in four of five jury trials. Jason then worked in a boutique law office where he learned the ins and outs of personal injury law including litigation of police misconduct. After gaining value trial experience, Mr. Smith successfully opened and ran his own law firm for several years. Jason won his first jury trial in private practice and developed a knack for taking on challenging cases other law firms rejected and securing favorable outcomes. Mr. Smith has handled matters ranging from minor traffic tickets all the way up to first degree murder. With a proven track record, he has even managed to secure jury trial not guilty verdicts on all counts for serious felony charges in three different counties. Mr. Smith also served as an arbitrator in mandatory, non-binding arbitration for cases pending in Maricopa County Superior Court. Upon relocating to the Pacific Northwest, he served as co-counsel in a high profile case with the largest jury-pool in the history of Skagit County. Today, Mr. Smith is captain of his own ship providing personalized legal representation and draws on his collective experience to help his clients achieve the best results in their cases.. In his free time, Jason plays ice-hockey and participates in endurance events. He’s competed in numerous marathons, ultra marathons, triathlons, Ironman races, and always looking for the next challenge.
