That same year, he passed the Alabama State Bar and was admitted by the Alabama Bar Association to practice in the State of Alabama. In addition to being admitted to practice in all Alabama state courts, Mr. Johnston is admitted to practice in Federal District Court for the Southern District of Alabama and the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit.. Neil was born and raised in Mobile, Alabama. Growing up, Neil spent his summers along the Eastern Shore of Mobile Bay. During the fall and winter months, Neil spent his weekends in the woods along the Tombigbee River in Washington County. He is an avid outdoorsman. He enjoys hunting deer and turkey, fishing, gardening, boat riding and anything that centers around being outside.. Growing up, Neil was surrounded by a family of lawyers: Presiding Circuit Court Judge Joseph M. Hocklander (Grandfather); Vivian Gaines Johnston, Jr. (Grandfather); Neil C. Johnston, Sr. (Father); Vivian Gaines Johnston, III (Uncle); Vivian Gaines Johnston, V (Cousin). In 2014 Neil married Abbey Lee Johnston, adding another lawyer to the family. Abbey and Neil have two wonderful and hyper-active dogs: Charlie & Annie.
