Tanner graduated with honors from the University of Georgia School of Law, a top-tier institution, recently ranked 12th in the nation among public law schools by U.S. News and World Report. His coursework concentrated on business law and included such subjects as corporations, corporate taxation, closely held organizations, and business negotiations.. Prior to law school, Tanner worked in management at Athens First Bank & Trust Co. in Georgia. He received an undergraduate degree magna cum laude in German and International Trade from Clemson University.
