I obtained my law degree in 1991 from McGeorge School of Law in Sacramento, California. In 1992, I left California, and moved to Alaska. When I arrived in Alaska, I clerked for a Superior Court Judge and then worked as a public defender for approximately 5 years. I opened my own law firm and limited my practice to the areas of criminal defense, family law, and personal injury.. On June 20, 2011, I was featured as co-counsel on 48 Hours television program, CBS murder of Bonnie Craig, a 17 year-old cold case.

Evan was born and raised in Anchorage, Alaska. He grew up in South Anchorage and graduated from Dimond High School. Evan was part of the first graduating class of Japanese Immersion Program students to attend immersion classes from 1st – 12th grade. The immersion program afforded Evan the opportunity to travel to Japan and stay with a host family while in elementary school.. The client was acquitted of all charges based on a self-defense theory and was released from state custody the day of the verdict after spending over a year in jail. Also while in law school, Evan successfully drafted a post-conviction petition and memorandum that was granted by a judge in Oregon. In essence the client who was originally sentenced to life without parole was granted a new sentencing trial on his aggravated murder charge.. Evan graduated cum laude from Willamette University College of law and was a member of Moot Court and Law Review. Evan also received a certificate in dispute resolution and was nominated to the Order of the Barristers for his outstanding courtroom advocacy skills. Evan was also active in the Student Bar Association and was Vice-President of his class in his final year of law school.. After law school, Evan returned to his home state of Alaska and opened his own law firm in Anchorage.
