Alley has previously served as instructor at Alabama police academies. I was born and raised in and around Gary, Indiana. Upon graduation from high school, I moved to Lafayette, Alabama. All my life I had dreamed of becoming a soldier. October, 1972 in Montgomery, Alabama, I became a soldier. I enjoyed the Army and all the opportunities it provided for training. My twenty year career was spent as eight years enlisted and twelve years as an officer. My duties included paratrooper, air traffic controller, aviation maintenance management, company commander, pilot and test pilot.. While in the Army, I had earned two degrees, a Bachelor of Professional Aeronautics from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University and a Master of Arts in Computer and Information Management from Webster University. After retirement from the Army, I moved back to Alabama but this time the Birmingham area. I worked for Children’s Hospital as a manager of Information Technology for thirteen years. My duties included working on multiple projects, managing computer education and customer support.. After work, I taught computer information classes at local colleges and attended law school. Upon graduation from Birmingham School of Law, I was admitted to Alabama Bar. Once my wife retired, we moved to Athens, Alabama to be close to family and to open my law practice.
