I started my legal career as a trial attorney with the U.S. Justice Department, Antitrust Division in 1980. My experience included trying four antitrust jury trial, in one of which I was the lead attorney. Thereafter, I became an Assistant United States Attorney for the District of Columbia and tried a number of cases in Superior Court. In 1987, I accepted a position as an AUSA for the Eastern District of Tennessee, specializing in fraud and public corruption. I handled civil as well as criminal cases representing the United States in all courts in which it was a party. I tried well over 150 federal criminal jury trials, briefed hundreds of cases and argued dozens of cases in the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit. I was also appointed a Special Assistant United States Attorney for the Middle and Western Districts of Tennessee and had jury trials in those districts. From 1995 to 2003 I was the supervisor of the Chattanooga Branch Office. I retired in 2011 and entered private practice.. My practice has been varied. I have represented a corporation in a month long federal jury trial, I have also represented private clients in the state courts of Tennessee and in federal court in the Northern District of Georgia and the Middle District of Louisiana. It is an enjoyable experience helping people as a private practitioner. My clients always come first and I have had great success in helping them.
