I have been a solo practitioner or a partner in a small law firm since graduating from Emory law school in 1988. It is my philosophy to give each client as much individual attention as their case needs for a successful conclusion. In immigration matters, I also advise clients when they have no case to remain in the United States, rather than take a case and say, "sorry,"  thousands of dollars later. It is better for clients' interests that the client take his or her hard earned money to their home country to start a new life rather than to spend it on a "wild goose chase" with the Federal Government.. I spend little time promoting myself for the benefit of the general public and for my peers, unlike many others in this profession. I find excessive lawyer advertising to be demeaning to the profession and often misleading. I only engage in it minimally in order to allow existing clients and referrals to find me. I do host an occasional radio show in Spanish.. Outside of my law practice, I am an avid golfer and fly fisherman, and a world traveller.

I grew up between Brooklyn, New York and Long Island. I attended New York University on an academic scholarship as the first in my family to graduate from college. You can say I beat the odds.. After graduating from NYU, I moved to Atlanta in 2000 to pursue a career in IT with IBM. While working at IBM, I started a successful promotions company, as a side interest, that would teach me so much about people and Atlanta as a whole. Despite this success, I decided to pursue a lifelong goal of becoming an attorney. I graduated from Georgia State University College of Law at the top of my class. In my practice, I combine my understanding of my city (Atlanta) and the inherent toughness gained from my childhood neighborhood to provide zealous advocacy for my clients. As my legal career continues, I continue to be active in my community and hope to inspire the next generation of attorneys.

I focus my practice on real estate closings and community association law, specifically homeowners associations, condominium associations, and commercial associations, including mixed use, "green", and age-restricted community documents.  I help homeowners, developers, lenders, and others in creating, interpreting, enforcing, and administering these documents, including compliance with the Georgia Condominium Act, the Georgia POA Act (particuarly in adopting its terms), and other statutes that may apply.  As well, I assist in navigating the practicalities of running an association, including dealing with calling annual meetings, holding elections, or creating comitteess.. In 2013, Andersen, Tate & Carr, P.C. named me the head of its residential and construction closing practice group.. In addition, I have also mediated real-estate related disputes, with an emphasis on finding cost effective and realistic solutions. Using the insights I have learned through my representation of homeowners, lenders, developers, builders and association board members I am able to share perspectives that otherwise might not have been considered to bring parties closer together.. One of my toughest projects was to be part of the team, led by Thomas J. Andersen, responsible for negotiating and closing the purchase of the Beltline by one of our firm's clients in 2004 (Atlanta Business Chronicle’s "Deal of the Year 2004") and to remain involved with the continuing complex development issues that arose from the Beltline, including its sale to another development entity in late 2007 (the sale was listed in Atlanta Business Chronicle’s "Deal Makers" list, March 2008).

I attended Lawrence Technological University, graduating in 1994 with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering. I served as Student Class President, both in my Junior and Senior years. While at Lawrence Tech. I joined Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity. I served on the Philanthropy Committee. I began my professional career as an engineer, designing electrical control systems for General Motors, Ford Motor Company, Hayes Wheels and Daimler Chrysler. As a controls engineer, I designed, programmed and debugged everything from robot arms to automatic stations for assembly lines. Initially I focused his practice on Intellectual Property Law, and more specifically, Patent Law prosecution.
