Tim was licensed as an attorney in 1990. He has been practicing almost exclusively as a family law attorney for most of this time. Tim is a Board Certified Family Law attorney, which means that he has devoted a substantial amount of his practice to family law, engaging in contested trials of cases involving matters such as divorce, property division, child custody, child support, adoption, and paternity. Although Tim is an experienced litigator, and will continue to help people in court, he knows from experience, that people are better served both emotionally and financially, if they can resolve their case outside the courtroom. This is why Tim is a strong proponent of collaborative law. His general philosophy is to try and settle the case, if at all possible, and litigate as a last resort, if there are no other alternatives.

Except for two military deployments to Iraq in 2005 and Afghanistan in 2011, I have lived in Austin, Texas since 1997.  A native of Virginia, I mostly lived in California, Japan, and Virginia after joining the Marine Corps before finally finding my home in Texas.. I earned a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Notre Dame and a law degree from Saint Mary’s University School of Law in San Antonio and I’m now a Family Law attorney working out of down town Austin, a block from the court house.. In the Marines, I served with an A-6 Intruder squadron as the maintenance control officer, and later did the same with F/A-18D Hornets.  I was the Adjutant for Officer Candidate’s school before leaving active duty to begin working as a manufacturing engineer for Apple Computer and Dell Computer.. When the recent war started up, I rejoined the Marine Reserves and served with a reconnaissance battalion and two different Marine Infantry battalions.   I’m currently serving as the Communications Officer for Combat Logistics Regiment 4 for a weekend each month and for two weeks in the summer.. I am married to a lady who hailed from Dallas, Elizabeth Rentner, and together we have one daughter, who has me completely wrapped around her little finger.  As it should be.
