William C. White, II is a founding member and managing partner of Boles Holmes White LLC. This firm traces its roots to the small southern town in Alabama where William first began practicing in the 1990's. William's accounting background gave him keen insight which he has been able to parlay in recent years into a successful corporate civil litigation/white collar/compliance practice. It is estimated that in William’s over twenty years of law practice, he has tried over a hundred trials to a jury verdict.. William White's education includes a degree in Accounting from the University of Alabama’s Culverhouse School of Accountancy. William then gained his law degree from the University of Alabama’s school of law in 1998. Upon graduation, William returned home to work for his father’s law firm where he gained extensive experience in real estate, banking and insurance matters. William gained significant jury trial experience as a local prosecutor.. Over the years, the firm has handled some of the most high profile cases in the country. Members of the firm served as counsel for former HealthSouth CEO Richard Scrushy in his acquittal of over 80 counts charging him with corporate misconduct. This verdict was the first ever prosecution under the Sarbanes-Oxley Act and is believed to be the only case in which a corporate executive has been found not guilty of charges related to fraud within a publicly traded company.. This representation led to the firm being further retained by Scrushy to defend him in the subsequent stockholder and shareholder derivative lawsuits and SEC investigation.. William served as trial counsel in two Federal jury trials for a State Senator charged with 19 counts of conspiracy, bribery, honest services fraud, wire fraud, money laundering and asset forfeiture. The State Senator was found "not guilty" on all counts.. The firm also served as counsel for former Gizmondo CEO Steffan Erikkson in Los Angeles, California. This international case was the result of the Swedish national being charged with Embezzlement related to certain property upon which he had executed a security agreement. The firm was able to obtain a hung jury.. Additionally, the firm has been involved in litigation in cases in jurisdictions across the country including the representation of a resident of Hong Kong whose business was alleged to have been involved in the largest counterfeit shoe seizure in the United States; the representation of the former Mayor of Detroit, Kwame Kilpatrick on charges of perjury; and the representation of an employee of Peanut Corporation of America in the ongoing investigation into the nationwide salmonella outbreak. It is estimated the firm has practiced in front of courts in more than 30 jurisdictions across the country.

I am a personal injury attorney who enjoys representing people that have been injured in almost any type of incident. Before I represented injured persons, I previously represented the people/companies doing the injuring. In other words, I was hired by insurance companies to defend their insureds in personal injury cases. Thus, I have the distinct advantage and somewhat unique perspective of having previously been a defense lawyer. I am able to use that experience and perspective to help the people I reprsent now.. Although I handle more car/truck/motorcycle wrecks than anything else, I particularly like to represent injured cyclists given that I am an avid cyclist myself. In addition, I have handled several other type of cases including dog-bite cases, mis-filled prescription cases, slip/trip and fall cases, as well as some product and employment liability cases.. In addition to cycling, I enjoy going on hiking trips with my wife. Another activity that I enjoy is playing table tennis and I am activily involved in a table tennis league. Swimming, working - out and reading kind of round out my hobbies.. My 3 children are now all in college so planning trips to see them is fun. I've thought about getting a dog to have around the house, but not yet ready to make that committment.
Honza Prchal is an associate of the firm whose areas of emphasis include mass torts, especially pharmaceutical and medical device work, and also general litigation. He has spent at least half his time on mass torts even before he started working with W. Lewis Garrison, Jr. in 1997, and he continues to enjoy helping clients navigate and understand an esoteric and confusing area of law where it is far too easy and far too common for clients to feel like numbers, rather than individuals with claims. Since Honza had to go through immigration himself and help his wife through US Immigration, he is highly motivated to try and help clients get on with their lives with less of the unique dread a large impersonal bureaucracy like an MDL proceeding with Plaintiffs’ Management Committees can engender. Honza is a member of the American Bar Association, Phi Delta Phi, the Birmingham Bar Association, the American Association for Justice, a life member of the Antient and Honourable Edmund Burke Society at the University of Chicago. He is a member of the Federalist Society, where he was twice an officer at the University of Virginia School of Law and was an officer in the Birmingham Lawyers' chapter for several years. He was a founding member and officer of the International Civitan Club of Metro Birmingham Chapter of Civitan International and also a member of the ACTION Civitan chapter. He was captain of the Moot Court Team and was Dicta Editor at the Virginia Law Weekly. He served as English language press secretary for Vaclav Klaus, Finance Ministry, Czech and Slovak Federative Republic, 1991. He has been active in choral music since grammar school , has represented the firm at Croonin' for Critters and in trivia competition and used to be a competitive fencer in all three weapons, but especially epee. Honza volunteers at All Saints Episcopal Church, his daughter’s school and at a number of Bar Association and alumni events, but his legal pro bono work is mostly with the Birmingham Volunteer Lawyers Program “Attorney for the Day” program where he can be found just about every month trying to help pro se claimants through the vagaries of the court system in Downtown Birmingham. Past volunteer work that he found interesting was interviewing veterans for the library of Congress. Since some of his own family was liberated by American troops in World War II and he saw the effects of their post-war departure on his family’s own country and on that of his friends,’ he found this particularly rewarding. He also did some pro bono work for the Birmingham Fencing Club.
