I was born in the Territory of Alaska, grew up in Logan, Utah and graduated from Utah State University with degrees in economics and Spanish in 1978. During high school I lived for a year in Quito Ecuador, and during college I served a two-year mission in Spain for the LDS Church. After finishing law school in Washington, D.C. in December of 1980, I returned to Logan and engaged in private practice, mostly litigation, for five years, with mentorship and guidance from my father, David Daines, Sr. From 1985 to 1997 I practiced in Houston, Texas in a variety of settings, engaged primarily in civil litigation. I returned to Logan again in 1997 and have continued in private practice, civil litigation, but this time with a focus on serving clients in contested family law cases.
Erin received her Juris Doctor degree on May 13, 2011 from the S.J. Quinney College of Law at the University of Utah, and passed the July 2011 Utah Bar Exam.. Erin first entered the legal field in April 2006, as a paralegal for the law firm of Bearnson & Peck, L.C. in Logan, Utah. Up until leaving the law firm in July 2008 to attend law school, Erin assisted each attorney of Bearnson & Peck in drafting estate planning and business documents. Erin returned to Bearnson & Peck as a Law Clerk between her second and third years of law school in 2010, and accepted a position as a law clerk with Bearnson & Caldwell, LLC when the firm opened its doors. Erin is now an Associate Attorney with Bearnson & Caldwell after receiving her license to practice law. She now practices in the areas of Worker's Compensation, Social Security Disability, Personal Injury, Medical Malpractice, Commercial Litigation, Family Law, Criminal Defense, Landlord/Tenant Law, Business Entity Formation, Commercial Transactions, and Estate Planning.. During law school, Erin participated in several internships and clinics, including the following: the Pro Bono Initiative’s Guadalupe Legal Clinic; the Pro Bono Initiative’s Family Law Clinic; a Judicial Clinic with Judge Bruce Lubeck in the Third District Court of Utah, Silver Summit; a Civil Clinic with Guardian ad Litem in the Third Judicial District of Utah; and a year-long Prosecutor Clinic with the Salt Lake County District Attorney’s Office.. Erin obtained a Bachelor of Science in Political Science and a Bachelor of Science in Sociology from Utah State University, with a minor in History, in addition to a Certificate in Law and Constitutional Studies. Erin received her Juris Doctor degree on May 13, 2011, passed the July 2011 Utah Bar Exam, and was sworn into the Utah Bar on October 31, 2011.. Erin was born in Coos Bay, Oregon and was raised in western Washington prior to joining the United States Marine Corps immediately after graduating high school. After completing her contract with the Marine Corps, Erin moved to Logan, Utah to attend Utah State University. Erin met her husband, Troy, in 2005, and they have remained in Logan where Troy was raised. In her free time, Erin enjoys camping, hunting, four wheeling, knitting, zumba, and spending time with her family and friends.
