After law school Mr. Severson was an associate for Askegaard & Robinson, P.A. as well as a judicial law clerk for the Honorable Erik J. Askegaard. Mark gained significant court room experience as the Assistant Clearwater County Attorney. Currently, Mark is a shareholder in the law firm of Severson Porter Law.. Mark grew up in the Brainerd Lakes Area and achieved his goal of returning home to practice law. Mark loves spending time with his family, watching any Minnesota sports team, and playing golf.

I have been practicing law for over 25 years. I truly enjoy helping people get through difficult situations. My practice areas include family law, bankruptcy, civil law, criminal defense, landlord-tenant, real estate, probate, wills, and estates, fair debt collection.. I am admitted to practice before the Minnesota and Wisconsin Supreme Court,  Federal Court, United States Bankruptcy Court, the Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwe Tribal Court, and the Leach Lake Band of Ojibwe Tribal Court.. When I am not at work I love spending time with my wife and our twins, biking, skiing with my dogs, and working on community projects.. I am also a member of the Minnesota State Bar Association, Minnesota Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, National Associate of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys, Paul Bunyan Cyclists and Northland Arboretum. I have served on the Board of Directors for the YMCA, the Brainerd Public Library, and the City of Brainerd Walkable Bikeable Committee.

I grew up in Palmer Township, just southeast of St. Cloud, MN. After attending St. Cloud State University to receive a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice Studies, I worked as a juvenile probation officer, construction laborer and paralegal before returning to school to receive my law degree from Hamline University School of Law. Prior to opening Wipper Law and Custody Evaluation Center, PLLC, I worked in several areas around the state, most recently in Brainerd, MN for four and half years.  I have worked on a wide varierty of cases including family law, criminal law, child protection, civil cases, guardianship/conservatorship, gun rights restorations, etc.. Outside of practicing law, I enjoy spending time with my wife and two children. When we aren't running around or playing with the kids, I enjoy outdoor activities and sports.
