By way of background, I have been working at Tremont Sheldon in some capacity since 1987, but truly earlier than that. As a young person, I helped by weeding, washing windows, and moving files. I would receive my earliest legal education around the dinner table with my father as he recounted his day and time in the court room. I feel very fortunate that I was able to practice with my father for 7 years before he died in 1999. He instilled a love of the law and incredible work ethic in me, for which I am extremely grateful.. I grew up in Trumbull, Connecticut and enjoyed playing little league. I would go on to Fairfield Preparatory School and later Dickinson College where I spent my Junior year in Bologna, Italy learning Italian and politics. I attended and graduated University of Baltimore School of Law. I lived in Baltimore right near the baseball field of Camden Yards and was able to see many games even though I am a Mets fan. It was in Baltimore and after working with the prosecutor and doing ride-a-longs - did I realize that I wanted to return to Connecticut and practice a kind of law that helps people who were hurt by others.. Through my time at Tremont Sheldon I have had the opportunity to help thousands of clients in their personal injury claims such as car accidents, medical malpractice, dog bites, or any other personal injury claims. I truly enjoy the relationships that I have forged with the clients over the years and enjoy when they call to not only ask for legal advice, but to let me know about a life event or to simply catch up.. I have worked with many childhood sexual abuse survivors and continue to do so to bring justice to perpetrators and institutions that allowed these life-altering events to happen to innocent children. Our sexual abuse practice first started with clergy abuse in the 90s and has now evolved to a practice that handles all childhood abuse against institutions and individuals such as teachers, coaches, camp counselors, and any other person in authority. I am proud of my work with abuse survivors in giving them a voice and holding the perpetrators accountable.. I also can identify with many of my clients after a car accident, fall, or other physical injury. I have had 2 neurosurgeries for my neck and back and understand the scope, both physically and mentally, of a spine injury and disc injury as well as the long road of recovery. Every person has his or her own experiences with the injury, medical intervention, and subsequent recovery, but having my own experience gives me a unique perspective that most other attorneys do not have when negotiating with the insurance company or making an argument before a judge and jury.. I grew up in Southbury, Connecticut and enjoyed being a member of the wrestling team at Pomperaug High School and spent weekends snowboarding at Mohawk Mountain. My parents who are both now retired teachers instilled a lifelong love of education and giving back to the local community. I started my very first job as a file clerk at Tremont Sheldon P.C. when I was in college and the experience piqued my interest in law and the legal system. I went on to graduate Summa Cum Laude from Suffolk University with dual majors in Political Science and Philosophy. Thereafter, I attended and graduated from Boston College Law School in 2013.. While in Boston, I worked as a student prosecutor at the Suffolk County District Attorney’s office, where I handled all aspects of criminal cases, including arguing motions and participating in trials. Here, I found my passion for advocating on behalf of victims. I went on to work in the Trial and Administrative Law Divisions of the Massachusetts Office of the Attorney General as a legal intern. In this role, I worked on personal injury claims brought against the state of Massachusetts. Combined, these experiences led me to my calling as a civil litigator advocating for victims of negligence and sexual abuse survivors.. Through my experiences, I realized that I wanted to be an attorney that advocates for victims, an attorney that values and listens to clients, and an attorney that can be trusted to provide clients with the fair compensation they deserve. It is with this mindset that I returned to Tremont Sheldon P.C. in 2013. Now, I spend my days advocating for my clients and I believe it is the most meaningful and important work I could be doing.. Both our founders, T. Paul Tremont and Robert Sheldon have been Presidents of the Association. The CTLA has several community outreach programs that I have helped with and ,on a fun note, I participated on their softball team.. In my free time, I am actively involved in my local community through hiking all different trails in Connecticut and participating in charitable events. I served on the Monroe Connecticut Zoning Commission and was a member of the Rotary Club. My wife and I are actively involved in several charities and organizations related to raising awareness and funding for a cure for a rare terminal disease, from which our daughter suffered.. I am a native Spanish speaker who has lived in the United States since the age of 13.  After graduating from the University of Connecticut in 1995, I was able to achieve my long time dream by graduating from law school in 1998.  During the first few years of my legal career, I practiced in the area of criminal defense.  Thereafter,since the year 2000 until the present, I have engaged in the practice of personal injury litigation.. I have been involved in the resolution of well over 1,000 personal injury cases, a number of which have involved figures over 1 million dollars.. I choose to only represent those that have suffered some type of harm at the hands of others and take great pride in my work.  I believe that I am set apart from many in my profession by the fact that my clients are not simply a settlement waiting to happen, but rather, people who have been wronged and deserve the best of me..
