Thanks for taking the time to look at my profile and learn more about me.. Over the course of my career, I have counseled and represented clients in employment law matters, from basic consultative advice , handbooks, and policies, to federal court litigation. My main practice areas include, but are not limited to:. I have litigated cases in various forums within the States of Wisconsin and Illinois and am admitted to practice before the Wisconsin Supreme Court, the U.S. District Courts for the Eastern and Western Districts of Wisconsin and the Northern District of Illinois, the Seventh Circuit, and the United States Supreme Court.. I received my bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin- La Crosse and earned my Juris Doctorate from Marquette University Law School.. Over the course of my entire legal career (even while clerking in law school), my only area of focus has been employment law. I do not and have not dabbled in other areas of the law. Thus, I'm not just someone who knows "a bit" of employment law, it's all I know and that is to my client's benefit.
Rettko Law Offices is a full service law firm helmed by William Rettko, a graduate of Drake University Law School.. Since 2001, Rettko Law has been providing clients with superior litigation services in Employment and Labor Matters, Civil Rights and First Amendment Issues and Business Concerns.
My practice focuses on estate planning and probate, helping clients navigate through will and trust planning, probate court, powers of attorney, and everything in between. As much as possible, I help my clients and their families avoid conflicts through comprehensive estate planning, probate-avoidance techniques, powers of attorney, and pre- and post-nuptial agreements. I believe that preventative measures are always better than trying to fix a problem after it happens. That's not always possible, though. For situations where a conflict cannot be avoided, my approach is to limit emotionally draining and expensive legal battles to the extent possible while still fighting for you to make sure your interests are protected.. Before opening my own practice, I worked at several other firms, including a small family-owned office, a medium-sized multi-attorney general practice firm, and high-end firm on the top floor of an office building in downtown Milwaukee. I learned a lot from each of these experiences and was motivated by the successes of those I worked with to venture out and design a business that matched my own vision.. I received my law degree from Marquette University Law School in 2010. I focused my legal education on estate planning, dispute resolution, mediation, and restorative justice. While at Marquette, I founded and served as the President of the Restorative Justice Society. I also served on the boards of the Alternate Dispute Resolution Society and the Client Skills Board. I was inducted into the Pro Bono Society with high honors for outstanding volunteer involvement with the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program and the Milwaukee Foreclosure Mediation Program. I also mediated small claims disputes at the Milwaukee County Circuit Court.. I received my undergraduate degree from Marquette University in 2005 with a triple major in English Composition, Philosophy, and Comparative Theology. I live in Wauwatosa with my wife and three children.
My approach to practicing law has always been about the client as a person. I try my hardest to give my clients the same advice I would give to my family. I believe humor and being down to earth are two very important traits as an advisor to people. Many people I see are dealing with a recent death and I try as best as I can to make this process one that is as stress free as possible.. Outside of law I am an avid car collector and enjoy scale model building and gardening. My hosta gardens are something I find to be very relaxing and rewarding. I enjoy spending time with my family and enjoy traveling and cooking.. I look forward to meeting new people and hope you will be one of them.
Mara Spring graduated from the University of Wisconsin Law School in 1998 after obtaining her bachelor’s degree from Northwestern University. During that time she handled over 60 jury trials, including a murder prosecution later featured on the hit T.V. series SNAPPED! Since leaving the District Attorney’s office in 2003, she has been in private practice. For over ten years she worked as an associate, in Elkhorn, Wisconsin. Mara received her Masters’ Degree in Dispute Resolution from Marquette University in 2017. Mara’s practice concentrates on litigation, primarily insurance defense. I represent ONLY employers (management) in all aspects of employment and labor law, involving matters of discrimination, disabilities, worker's compensation, OSHA /safety, wage and hour law, hiring, discipline, firing, drug and alcohol policies, handbooks, family & medical leave, affirmative action, unions, workplace privacy, and many other aspects of work-related law. I provide a strong defense when claims are made against my clients, but I also advise my clients to act proactively in an effort to reduce or eliminate adverse claims. Therefore, I work with clients in policy and handbook development, internal complaint investigation and resolution, staff training, and other approaches to minimize potential problem situations and provide clear, prompt responses should problems occur.
I represent homeowners who have purchased a defective property. The most common defects are leaky basements, displaced foundation walls, leaky roofs, moisture intrusion, mold, failed septic systems, flooding, and failed wells. I litigate claims on a contingent fee basis against prior homeowners, realtors, and inspectors. Claims against prior homeowners are the most common because they have a duty to disclose the defects that they learned about from living in the home. I also represent homeowners who have built a new home or who have made improvements to their existing home, pursuing claims against developers, builders, and contractors. Finally, I represent people who want to purchase property, protecting them through drafting contingencies in the offer and negotiating a release when defects are discovered prior to closing.. I was born in Milwaukee, grew up in Wauwatosa, and raised my family in Grafton. I attended the University of Wisconsin on the prestigious Evans Scholarship and marched in the world-renowned Wisconsin Marching Band. I spend time visiting my recent college graduate son and my college junior daughter and adjusting to our empty nest with my wife. I also enjoy attending sporting events and concerts, weightlifting, reading, and volunteering in my community.
I have had the privilege of assisting my clients over the years with their personal wealth management needs by focusing on the legal, tax and investment issues that many high-net worth individuals face. I have had the opportunity to serve as a trusted advisor in a few different capacities including 8 years as an estate, tax and business succession planning attorney in private practice and 2 years as a specialty tax manager in public accounting. My experience as an attorney and as a tax professional pairs perfectly with my current focus on the trust and investments side.. Ultimately, my sole mission is to ensure the long-term vitality of your hard-earned wealth and to support the achievement of your uniquely personal financial goals.. I earned my B.S. degree from North Dakota State University, my J.D. degree from Marquette University Law School, and my Master's of Science in Taxation from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. In addition, between my first and second year of law school, I studied international and comparative law abroad at the University College in Dublin, Ireland.
I have been in practice since 1992, and have a diverse legal background. I bring a wide knowledge of real estate, bankruptcy, litigation, landlord/tenant, contracts and insurance law to my family law practice, which I now practice exclusively. I also have specialized knowledge in mental health issues, as well as domestic abuse and substance abuse, and often work with mental health professionals in those areas.. I am divorced myself with three daughters, and understand well the stress and emotions that accompany the divorce process. I promote low conflict processes, including mediation, collaborative and cooperative divorce. While some cases need to be heard in court, most issues can be resolved with a willingness to put the family first. Low conflict dispute resolution goes more quickly, and costs less money.. When I am not working or with my family, I am an active volunteer for various non-profit organizations and charities.
I handle commercial, civil and open records litigation in Wisconsin and Illinois state and federal courts. I have extensive experience in complex litigation and insurance coverage matters. In addition, I have represented clients both as local counsel and in conjunction with out-of-state counsel who were admitted pro hac vice..
