Vern McCray’s rule of practice is “Treat others the way you would want to be treated.” We treat our clients like they are family to us & that is how we look after their interests. Our attorneys have good working relationships with virtually every firm in town, & with adjacent professionals. Mr. McCray's thorough approach to helping each client navigate what is often the most difficult time in a person’s life has earned him the reputation of being a fierce advocate to have on their side.. A Clark County native, Vern McCray started his legal career in 1989, under the mentorship of Clark County Superior Court Judge Edwin L. Poyfair. He prosecuted misdeamenors such as DUIs and Assault 4 cases as an Assistant Deputy Prosecutor for the City of Washougal at the same time he worked at Poyfair & English.. When Judge Poyfair took the bench in 1992, Mr. McCray began working for Boyd & Gaffney (now Boyd Gaffney Sowards & Treosti PLLC), where his 2nd great mentor, James Boyd, threw him into the deep end with a felony public defense contract for Clark County & Skamania County. It was through the defense contract where Mr. McCray gained his 3rd great mentor in criminal felonies, the Honorable Judge Robert Lewis. Judge Lewis & Mr. McCray each took approximately 125 felony cases each year between Clark County & Skamania, and split the Juvenile criminal contract and Dependency contract. Mr. McCray kept his felony public defense contract for over 10 years before going into private criminal defense.. Mr. McCray’s working relationships with opposing counsel have inspired resolution in the most convoluted circumstances. In the event trial is not the best course- Mr. McCray has a track record of obtaining dismissals, civil compromises, and reduced charges on criminal cases, and structuring settlements in family law cases, wrongful death lawsuits, and large estates.. In 2012, Mr. McCray branched away from Boyd, Gaffney, McCray, Sowards, & Treosti & took over the firm’s Camas location as his own practice. Today, Mr. McCray’s decision making is relied on by other judges, who call upon him to act as Pro-Tem Judge in their stead, as well as a Special Master of Evidence. For the past decade, Mr. McCray has limited his own practice to criminal defense and family law, two areas of the law he finds most rewarding.. When he is not in the office, Mr. McCray is either serving as a Pro-tem Judge in Skamania Superior Court, or farming on 100 acres of his Goldendale property with his wife, and their many, many animals.. Our firm serves Clark County: Camas, Washougal, Battleground, Brush Prairie, Ridgefield, Vancouver and Skamania County.. Should you find yourself going through the difficulty of a family law matter, or through the nightmare of a criminal prosecution, contact The Vern McCray Law Firm to schedule a free case consultation with Mr. McCray.
Social Security disability is what I specialize in, so you will get 100% focus and experience on your disability or overpayment claim. I mainly handle the entire states of OR, WA, AK and AZ, but also any other U.S. state or territory. My practice is just me, not a large firm with a different "expert" working there each month, so you will always get me on the phone, and we will work together the entire way. I believe in accessibility and communication, and maximizing our chances for success by eliminating the middle-man.. Since 2009, I have been practicing exclusively in this field because of how much I enjoy it. The diversity of people and cases I get to work with is rewarding, and it teaches me something new every day.. After 5 years in the US Navy on active duty, I completed college at Portland State University, and then graduated law school from Lewis and Clark College in Portland, OR, in 2009. I am married and have 4 children and a cool dog, and when I'm not working, I'm spending time with my family, working in the shop, recreating outdoors, and finding new places to explore.. I look forward to working with YOU next!
Dylan has worked as an attorney on all types of family law cases including modification trials, divorces, non-parent custody, paternity, protection orders, and adoptions. Dylan first began appearing in court in 2011, not as a lawyer but as a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) for foster children in Multnomah County. He continued to volunteer as a CASA for over five years, and family law was a natural extension of his child welfare work. He has been practicing law since 2013, when as a Lewis & Clark law student he qualified for the Oregon law student appearance program and handled family and business law, bankruptcy, and landlord-tenant cases. He is currently licensed in Washington and Oregon. Dylan is a doubly certified Guardian ad Litem, under both Revised Code of Washington Title 11 (probate and trust law) and Title 26 (domestic relations). He is also experienced in collecting monetary judgments, including garnishments and debtor’s exams.. Dylan didn't go directly to college from high school, instead working for the tile setting company that his grandfather founded in the 1980's. After mastering the trade and building his own independent business, he wanted to expand his opportunities with a college degree. He majored in history, specializing in the history of science and the U.S. Constitution. Dylan’s family originally came west from Kansas toward the end of the Dust Bowl, settling in the Pacific Northwest. In his free time, Dylan likes to visit his property up in the Idaho panhandle and remodel houses.

As a former Clark County deputy prosecuting attorney and in-house insurance defense attorney for a large international insurance company, litigation is my passion. That is why I have chosen personal injury as my primary practice area. Having worked these cases from the other side, I know how the insurance companies strategize their attacks. Of course, I believe an approrpiate, fair settlement should be the primary goal due to the emotional and financial costs of litigation. However, when the other side does not play fair, and frequently they do not, then my past experience is invaluable and I believe a strong, aggressive offense is necessary to represent my clients against these powerful entities.. My landlord-tenant practice is limited to landlords only. I do not represents tenants to avoid conflicts.
