Jim received a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering in 1968 from Kettering University, (formerly General Motors Institute) in Flint Michigan. While at GMI, he was a member and officer of the Phi Delta Theta fraternity and served on the Student Government Council. He received a Juris Doctor in 1973 from Michigan State University Law School (formerly Detroit College of Law).. Jim has maintained a solo practice in Southeast Michigan since 1975.
