In 2008, Emily moved back to Texas to attend St. Mary’s University School of Law.  While completing her law degree, Emily served as a staff writer and as a member of the editorial board of The Scholar: St. Mary’s Law Review on Minority Issues.  Her student comment, "Waiver, Certification, and Transfer of Juveniles to Adult Court: Limiting Transfer in Texas," was selected for publication in 2010.  She served as a student representative for the State Bar of Texas Law Student Division, a member of the Student Bar Association, and a legal research and writing teaching assistant for first-year students.  Emily was on the Dean's List and was the recipient of the Jackson Lewis Employment Law Scholarship and Dean’s Law Scholarship.  She was also the Best Brief Award Recipient in the First-year Moot Court Competition. Emily graduated from St. Mary's cum laude in 2011.  After graduation, she moved to Phoenix, Arizona and completed a one-year judicial clerkship at the Arizona Court of Appeals with the Honorable Maurice Portley..
