I have deep roots in downstate Illinois--just take a look at my garden.  Before I was a lawyer I cooked for a living for 12 years, and I've found that no amount of cooking skills can substitute for produce picked right from your back yard.  Central Illinois has amazing soil and a long but tricky growing season (I've lost tomato pepper plants to frost in June.)  I've lived in Illinois since 1975, graduated from with two degrees from the University of Illinois, and two of my three children were born here, so my personal roots are deep here, too!
